Kinda defeats the purpose no?
I'm more worried about a break down. If one of the rigs drops s trans or snaps a driveline I can still get it home. Either truck could tow a dolly but I would only stick a tow bracket on the front of pb.

Yes more trucks! I've got 5 and 2 of them can tow all the others around. I would like a 24' gooseneck though...

Trans cooler, deeper gears and a good trailer/hitch setup will almost equal the cost of buying an older tow vehicle. I've seen several crew cab big block late 90s trucks for a good deal on the interwebs. Although that does add more maintenance and costs through out the year.

That would mean I own 5 vehicles lol. I'm out of parking space.

Kinda wanted to gear this rig either way.

Yeah might as well make it work for you. I think youll be ok with good trailer brakes and a weight distribution hitch. Just watch your trans temps and don't tow in overdrive unless just flat highway.

Was thinking on the drive to work today. Maybe stick with 4.56s, run in 3rd and figure out how to lock the TQ. That would be easier on the trans than deeper gears and asking OD clutches to hold the load.

I can tell you Joey from my own experience. I towed just over 5k lbs with my Jimmy. I towed it about 300 miles.

We had to adjust the car once but after that it was fine . Zero issues. My jimmy has a 6"lift and I had 35s at the time.

Borrow a trailer, put PB on it. And see if it's doable. Without the weight distribution hitch. Then load up like you were gonna go to Moab. Read up on weight distribution hitches, order the one that matches your weight.

I have 37s and a 700r4 and no way I'd be happy with anything higher than the 5.13s I have now. The gearing is perfect IMO.

Towing with the crew cab I plan to run air bags in the rear. I have some concern about sway control but I think running the split air system to the bags will counter act that.

To start I'm skipping the bags but I have stiff springs right now. I want to put a softer rear suspension in and that will mandate air bags. Plus I'm only towing a 4000lbs camper. My future dream would be a 2 seat buggy on a light car trailer, so even that will likely be around 4000lbs.

I could see 5K doable but he's going to be over 7K with the trailer. It's one thing to go across town at 45mph, it's a whole other ball of wax on the freeway with traffic, cross wind, mountains etc.

I won't even tow my k10 with my Tahoe which has several advantages over your K5 as a tow vehicle.

Yeah I have 6" springs all around that are really stiff and I still run the front sway bar. I would for sure look into a stabilizer hitch. And really good trailer brakes.

As far as the trans goes, I have a good external cooler with a fan and an extra deep pan with the cooling tubes in it and 2 temp gauges and the ability to manually lock the torque converter with a switch :)

Those running 513s with a 700r4 and 37" tires what rpm do you see on the freeway?

I can't tell with my other rig because it doesn't have a tac

I have access to a 1993 Silverado extended cab long bed pickup. It's bone stock. If have to add a hitch and brakes. Problem is its gutless and has 270k miles so I think that's just as big of a risk as driving my rigs and wheeling them lol.
