ck5 alaska trip-july 1 2011 to july 11 2011

I would love to go, but don't ever plan on having a rig that big, especially that soon. Maybe there could be something else I could do to participate in this expedition.
you've got a spot in my rig, if you want it. :)

ten bucks-i dont think that would be a good idea.the less exposure the better.im just wanting to inclued members of ck5 to see and experiance alaska not give the greenies more ammo to try and shut down my state.if theres a bunch of pics posted in a national magazine og 10-12 rigs running around in the back country they can twist the pics to fit their agenda.every where we will be running WILL be on a established trailbut in some area it will not look like it due to the age of the trail.

rdn-once we leave the hyway we will be in the back country for the whole time.my family will be with me and they go every year.my youngest has been going since he was 8 months old.it doesnt get that cold at night every year but is best to plan for it.last year the lowest it got was mid 60s,year before it was in the 20s.there are no hotels, stores, repair facilitys, basicly there is nothing but wild life, mud, trails and us back there.i bring a portable shower that people are welcome to use.i have a mr. buddy heater for our tent, even when it was in the 20s it kept the tent at 75-80 no problem.
bring the family, they will love it and the kids will remember their trip to alaska with dad for the rest of their lives.

I may have a spot in my rig going too. If I don't and you can find a spot with someone else on the trip I wouldn't mind having company driving.

IF this happens for me my wife will fly up and then drive back with me. That would put me on the drive up either with my (she will be 5 in 2011) 3 year old or by myself, like I said working on a a semi but its a longshot at best, I can get the tractor no prob the trailers a bit harder

Ill be in for the 2013 run :D, as long as we are all alive past 2012  . Whenever you figure out the 2011 dates and all that I would like to try and make it but wouldnt have a rig unless I get rich all of the sudden.

Maybe by then I'll have a 6 lug 14bsf under my Yukon and we can split the gas and I'll tow that fawsome Blazer of yours up there.:D
not sure if that would be safe. perhaps if the trailer had brakes, i guess. :wink1: i envisioned a flat-tow...

Just drive it up here to washington, then ill tow it behind my blazer the rest of the way:-)

I'm up there every summer and during Christmas break. Get a hold of me any time on AK4x4, I try to go every weekend I have off work. If the construction is dead I get a week or two off at a time occasionally.

I usually just sleep under a tarp in the summer :). Used to sleep on the ice in my Refridgerwear when I was calling wolves in the winter back in high-school. Now I moved and the coyotes down here are everwhere!

the run dates will be july 1 2011 to july 10th 2011.we will leave the parking lot the morning of july 1 at aprox 9 am .plan on a 12-14 hr day the 1st day to reach where we will have the 1st base camp.
everyone should plan on being up here 2 days before the run-june 28th- so you can have a day to rest and a day to get food and do any last minute repairs on the rigs.will have a rig inspection that day also to double check that all the rigs are ready to go.
i have plenty of space here at my house for everyone.and will have plenty of ice for coolers.
a thought for you that will be driving the trail rigs.put a set of stock tires on them so your wheeling tires dont get worn down onthe trip.6k miles on a set of boggers or tsls will wear them a lot.you can leave the rollers here at the house til we get back from the run.

So I would be able to tow my rig up, and leave the truck and trailer at your place then for the trip? And will our rigs have to be street legal?

the tow rigs and trailers can be left at my house if wanted but in the years i have been running in that area i have always left my tow rig at the trail head or at the lodge.they have not ever been messed with.another thing to concider is the trail head is aprox 80 miles from my house so if your rig were to have a major failer its a long ways from your tow rig.
street legal would be nice but i wont require it but keep in mind theres 80 miles of road travel to the trail head.we have put nonstreet legal rigs inthe middle of the pack and had no problems but that doesnt mean they wont want to see whats going on with a bunch of built rigs running down the road.

tenbucks-if after the run we want to put together a story for a mag and we can decide on what pictures are in it-ie no mud shots, mostly static rig and senery pics-then that would be fine.but i think the ones from this state should have the final say on the photos.
