ck5 alaska trip-july 1 2011 to july 11 2011

tenbucks-if after the run we want to put together a story for a mag and we can decide on what pictures are in it-ie no mud shots, mostly static rig and senery pics-then that would be fine.but i think the ones from this state should have the final say on the photos.

Yeah, that is understandable. I was mostly thinking of that idea to see if they want to bring the Ultimate Adventure up to Alaska one year since they are quickly using up their options in the lower 48.

well i am planning on making this happen. I have a few friends, well 2 that are interested as well. How big can we make this get together? I will vouch for my guys 100% without batting an eye. Are we making a fullsize only rule?

given the nature of this trip it would be pretty hard for anything less than a fullsize to make the trip unless it was a single person. Considering the extra fuel you would need to carry. Even a 4 banger jeep is going to burn alot of fuel going through some of these trails

i would like to limit it to around 10 rigs, but the invite is to members of ck5.
the biggest reason for that is if you run into a hole that takes say 10 minutes to get a rig threw then even with only 10 rigs you are at over 1.5 hrs at the same spot.we have hit spots there that have taken 2-3 hrs to get just 4 rigs threw.thats why there are the requirments to try to keep the hold ups to a minimum.

Completely understandable. I'm NOT 100% by any means. I'm still putting my rig together. It's more of a goal time frame for me. IF I actually could get it done by then, have a chance to go wheel it a time or two to iron out any bugs and make further upgrades, had the vacation time accrued, had the money for the trip and ALL that kind of stuff then I would LOVE to go, Trip of a life time if you ask me. I will do my best, thats all I can do. If I lose my spot due to quantity of rigs/people no problem, there's always next time.

I'm not sure how you're going to manage/decide who gets to go, as it looks like there is a lot of interest and I understand the need to limit the number of rigs. I also know that people tend to drop out of trips as the date gets close. That being said, I seriously plan on going. My rig will meet the specs.

Thanks for putting the effort in on this sleadheadak. Getting to Alaska has long been a goal for me.

lol i dont want to have to be the one to decide if somebody cant go.i was just stateing that 10 rigs is a good max number.but if more members are actualy able to make it then we will figure out a way to make it work.the biggest ting is everyone have fun and enjoy them selves esp after spending the time, money and effort to come all the way up here.i just wouldnt want somebodys trip ruined because we spend 8 hrs in one place due to the number of people onthe run.but like i said there will be ways to figure it out and make it work.

Loose count there is only 21/22 people posted in this thread.

Unfortunately I am going to have to drop out of the trip as I don't think my rig will meet the specifications. The last thing I would want to do is hold the group up with a rig that just wont cut it.

As the trip gets closer and I keep working on the rig I will evaluate the rigs ability and throw my hat back in if warranted.

That being said...trip of a lifetime. So would love to go.

I was just thinking...were you one of the K5s up at King River this past memorial day? Pretty sure I saw two, definetely one though. Think it was brown or green (I'm colorblind so who knows), ~42" TSLs I think...

I have been hearing about this trip for awhile. I was going to take a month off an run alask to baja in two years. I would love to be consided and get back to the great north west. There are a few of us in Ridgecrest, CA interested (i.e. longbedder, westy, and etc.). We can consolidate and ride along. Do you have a running list? If possible, I would like to get your help putting together a trip to go from alaska to baja maybe in 2012-2013 time frame. I know the terrian in Washington, Oregon, California, and part of Baja.

You could always ride shotgun in a rig just to go. Not the same I know but still get the trip experience, probably would drive and wheel some too.

nope, we need to just get a car hauler, a bad ass dodge diesel dually and put like all the NW rigs on it and haul 'em all up there on that... :D that would be all kinds of cool. I call shotgun... when I'm not driving. :haha:

A caravan would be cool.

even if you dont have your rig ready come anyways, theres always open seats and im sure some people would like help on the drive up.theres still 18 months so you still might get your rig ready to go. you just stay on the possible list lol

Small world huh?

It was a nice warm weekend up there. We were camped parallel to the road on the northwest side. Big ridiculous white camper chained down to a car hauler behind a white '96. Saw your group drive by a few times and made me wish I'd drove my K5 up for the summer. It was the maiden voyage on my ATV TSLs though. They did freaking awesome there and up a Boulder in all the different types of terrain.

My dog is 55 lbs for comparison.

I have such a boner for this trip and I don't even know if I 100% will make it. Is that wrong of me to say? :D What an adventure!
