Deulings 1985 K5 Blazer, --aka Borderline Obnoxious; Silver Lake pics and Vids

Got the rear Rough Country Nitro9000s in the mail today. Wow were those easier than the front lol. Shes ridin like a caddy now:saweet:.

Just gettin a little done at a time I guess. Hopefully after the exhaust gets tucked up I wont have to spend much on big stuff and try to work with some stuff I have. Classes start the 29th so thats a bummer, books are gonna be a big purchase. Ive got 2 machining classes, My like 6th CAD class, and a welding class. So im finally done with all those worthless math/science/english...etc classes:rolleyes:. Hopefully ill have my CAD Assoc plus a cert in machining and/or welding by the end of this yearish or end of next summer. The machining and CAD places around here are going out of control hiring kids straight out of high school and stuff from what ive heard, so thats a plus. Hopefully Ill be able to find me a nice job and stop this plumbing BS. Im sick of poop and crawl spaces!! Especially when you combine the two!!:doah::haha:

But anywho yah hopefully ill get her all cleanup up and ready to hit the dunes labor day weekend. And then after that I want to start ripping the interior out and cut and weld the rusty floor by the doors (got a couple holes) actually looking forward to some fab action. Then I get to install all my nice brand new carpet, which should really brighten up the interior. After that its just gonna get enjoyed till I save up for my next project on it:thumb: (which most likely is gonna be a beef A$$ build on the 700R4) My buddy is a mechanic and a darn good one to boot, and he told me he could build me a bada$$ 700 for around $500, excluding torque converter. He pretty much will do things for material cost for me, plus maybe a tirty pack or so. Gotta love havin good friends:thumb:

I did get a nice score today though for the Vandura. I currently blew a chord in one of the cooper cobras, and caught a nail in another at work, so im rollin on both spares in the front, which are really nice brand new tires, just not as cool as the cobras lol. But got a nice firestone wilderness at 235/75/r15 on steal rim for $10, real nice tread. And the old dude thought the van was sweet and threw a set of really nice heavy duty roof racks in for free that came on the chevy van he had. So I thought that was cool. Now i just gotta find a ladder or something to put on the roof to use them lol. But I feel much better having a nice spare in the back instead of the cobra with the blown chord.

good stuff Adam, and yeah get us pictards some pics again will ya...

Ill try to man. Im pretty sure my hard drive is just broke, being thats the exact spot I stepped on my laptop:doah:. And the fact it says no hard disk detected:haha: lol. Im a tard haha

So today I wanted to finally get that stupid driver side locker off that had the busted allen head in it. Well I couldnt drill it out, tried to tac a piece of welding rod to it, so I ended up with the sawzall in my hand and 2 min later had a lccker laying cut in half on the ground:woot:.

Went down to the local auto value, he had the same mile markers for $80 or the Warns for $85. I thought the warns looked a bit beefier so I grabbed them but when I walked up the old dude went "wait a sec" and walked in the back. He came out holding the same box of Warns but they just had a NAPA sticker on them. He goes ok now since we bought a Napa store out a few years back we had these, they are the same thing and Ill get them to ya for a discount. Walked out with a brand new set of Warn Lockers for $44:thumb:. I was pretty stoked. They look alot beefier.

Got the bearings all changed out. Took the set and repacked them and put them in the locker box with the one good MM locker for a spare locker and bearing set just in case of emergancies.
It drives much better with nice bearings. Im lovin it more every day.

And since im finally on a computer Im ready for some much needed pic whoring:waytogo:.

Looking good man. Nice score on the Warns. How much of a turn is it to get them to engage?

Quarter turn. They have a much beefier spring mechanism and they lock into the free position very nicely. And in the lock position the spring will suck it back to lock by itself if you dont click it to free. Im really happy with them. Everything looks and feels way beefier.

Im liking them. Gonna hit up some exhaust places today to get it all tucked up better. Then i should be ready to hit up the dunes labor day weekend:woot:

fyi there not lockers. thats what goes in the axle pumkin.

there man locking HUBS . :D

and in my day i have had to cut a few off cause the bolts were so frozen in or rounded off heads.

I just couldnt pass up the deal and for the little wheeling i do i think they will be just fine.

If I'm not mistaken the factory hubs were unbranded Warns. At least they were on the K30's from the 80's.

New standard Warns > crappy old Mile Markers that didn't work.

I once had to weld, cut, and pry a set of factory Aisin hubs off of my first Tracker. Someone had at some time decided they needed some "maintenance" but didn't have a clue what they were doing. Randomly under or overtightened the bolts, didn't use a gasket or RTV behind the hubs, and then the best...packed them full of grease. Oh, and the cone washers were missing in a few places.
They didn't work well, were super hard to turn, and half the bolts snapped off as I was taking them off. It sucked.
New set of used hubs, little welding by my dad, and I was mostly good to go after that.

Reminds me, need to save some pennies for a set of Warn Premiums for the Tracker. The difference in quality between the WP's and the knock off brands on the Suzuki Sidekick/Trackers is noticeable. The Warns are heavy, solid, and expensive. The other brands are just...well...cheap.

Adam you are always getting good deals.....I'm jealous.

i know right? im very fortunate and i do try to look around for deals and be patient instead of just buying right away. It takes alot longer to get stuff done but its worth it to me. Also im bringin the truck into the exhaust shop at 8 am tomorrow to get it all tucked up. Got a day off tomorrow so that will be perfect.:woot:

It's 8:12 is it done yet?

just dropped it off a little bit ago. Had 2 cars in front. Should be done before noon. Very strange morning for me lol. I woke up feeling fine got out of bed, then all a sudden i puked out of nowhere.... Lol very weird. Cuz i feel fine
