Deulings 1985 K5 Blazer, --aka Borderline Obnoxious; Silver Lake pics and Vids

I know this was quite a few posts back but:

I'm running a red one of these stainless Flex-a-lite flex fans on my 355, and just as a warning, something with a stock-style clutch may be more quiet and put less strain on your water pump. This thing spins all the time, and loudly at higher rpms, and you'll have to make sure it's spaced close enough to your rad. (I had to buy a spacer kit).

However, I will say that with that fan, a 180 t-stat, and a stock rad, I absolutely cannot get this thing to heat up over about 185-190 even in the dead of summer, stop and go traffic or pulling up a hill.

stock or HD clutch fan from Hayden (sp?) That's what I run and seems to be doing good. Just spent most of my day in traffic, 90*+ temps, and it ran steady at 195.

BTW. I have about 220 miles on the motor now. It will get better but my gas millage so far is 6-7mpg LMFAO. That's using what I spent on gas and comparing it to Google Maps millage of my driving routes. There is mega room for error as I can't account for idling in traffic, at the drive through, or break in period. :)

Haha well im getting 9 with the burnt out 305, so hopefully with your "errors" it will increase to more like 9 or so. I would be happy with that.

Well I think i will just stick with the fan clutch setup I have now, for now. It works good, I cant get this 305 to get up to 180* if i jam on it all day.

just keep those flex fans out of the water.

if it's not broke don't fix it..........why waste money if you don't HAVE to? maybe do a good flush on your system before you pull the motor, clean out your radiator.

Well I left ZIMMERS around... well I cant remember to be honest, wanna say 11 ish. Got home, took a long needed shower, and thought about a nap, but man was it nice out. So i went outside, washed the Blazer, then I thought you know im really sick of all those paint chips and how horrid my grill looks, so i took it apart, sanded down and hit with some satin black and put back together, and polished up the bumpers and all the chrome really nice. I was pretty happy, then my lady got their, and it went, well all uphill from their!! lol.

Perfect Weekend, cant thank everybody enough.

And ZIMMER you better get used to my ugly mug cuz I got a feeling im gonna be down their a bunch to help you over the summer!!! haha.

Yes it looks ten times better, and i found this crome polish in the garage and all the chrome on the truck looks top notch now. Its hard to look at in the sun lol. The lady even came over and helped me finish before I got too sunburnt working in the sun all afternoon. (her car would be the ford parked behind me in the one pic, I need to find her a truck hahaha that would be great)

Having scrolled through all the build and greet pics...you were the only one to show up with a running/functional K5. Kurt was a close second with a square body...

Somehow I can just hear you saying...d00000000d! about a thousand times. :haha:
