Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Because they were the coolest thing ever, in 1985. That is why you should have bought an innovative.

It will work, but it is like using a yard stick instead of a micrometer.

Didn't you know this is the "GOOD ENOUGH" Blazer Build? :D

I'll keep an eye open. Like I said it was like $20 from someone here.

A sensor with a heated element may work with the controller you have. Id research to be sure. and that bung is to far away to be effective with an unheated sensor.

Good enough to pop head gaskets. Use a 95 s10 blazer sensor

**** dude. I got a timing marker now. If those gaskets lasted years, im set for life

So is that just a one wire hookup like this one? Or does it need switched power ran to it as well?

Poor Adam!

Its been a entertaining few days for someone watching in the background! :haha:

Wow. I blink and find I'm 150 posts behind. And they're actual TECH posts! :eek1:

Not sure what this thread is coming to.

I have gotten lost, though. Is this truck close to getting back together again? I wanna see sand pics.

And Adam's change of avatar is still throwing me for a loop. :doah:

That is all...carry on. :waytogo:

As near as I can tell was pulled apart for head gaskets, now it's just a frame and a shell awaiting a full resto?!!! :haha:

Heads are on and torqued down. Carb has some new parts in it, intake is all cleaned up and ready to go back on. Just need to put all the rockers and such on now.

Question on that, do you need to do a "cam break in" type thing again after readjusting all the valve train? Or am I safe to just start it up like normal?

Nope, the lifters are already seated on the cam lobes, your good. Do you know know how to set your rockers?

I have a GM manual, it has instructions on it. Has the tightening procedure for half, then turn the crank and do the other rockers.

As long as you didn't move any lifters your fine.,

I pulled them all out and put them all in order with the rockers in a box. So they will all go back in the same spot they came out of.

I prefer eoic because if you have a big enough cam it doesn't get it perfect, of course I prefer mech, cause I am a free American male.

its just a baby for a 408!

It wouldn't hurt to put some cam grease on those lobes, lifters, and rockers Adam!

I got a bottle of stp motor treatment waiting to lube everything up. I wiped all the cylinders down with it too.
