I bet the masking tape joints on the top tubes would actually pass "safety" inspection at Silver Lake.

What you've built is pretty much what I want to do someday - I just can't live with a cage that ruins interior space. Want to bend up a copy while it's still fresh?

What are your plans up front?

I already have all the bends saved for the hoops. I bent another for a roll bar for a guy and it only took a few minutes. And ended up within a 1/4 inch or so of exactly the same as mine.

I'm still playing with ideas for the front. Right now I still have 8 sidebars to do in the rear. 2 on top and two on bottom on both sides.

I'm thinking I will get the rear all tacked together. Double check that the topper fits back on. Add some temporary leg bracing to keep holes in line, and pull it out to fully weld. Then drop it back in to do the front. Because I won't be able to pull it after I start the front.

Im not sure why, but these ones kicked my butt today. I wasn't really in shop mode today after work, so im sure that didn't help. But I got them done and in.

Yes the bench is crooked, its not hooked in.

Those notches are looking sooo damn hawt!

These ones brought the suck tying into that crossbar too. But thanks, it was a pain to get them tight lol.

Lots of hold up, mark hi spots with sharpie, grind them down, re check... repeat 18eleventy times......

Oh I forgot Luke, im gonna need more tube I think than what I even planned for me at 160'.... But if you bring me 2 sticks, Ill bend you up the b and c pillar hoops for a small chunk of $$

If it was my shop and tools, id just charge you guys some beers. But since its bretts tools and shop.... Cant do it free.

I wish I would have spent just a little more time on getting my notches that close.

What's the plans for the upper portions above the bedsides?

Did you guys not take my cad models seriously or what??? :haha:

I said this is what I was going to build. And thats exactly what I have done.... From my brain, to computer, to tube. ;) Sorry, i got the same questions on other websites, after I had posted my cad models too.

I always thought that was a jungle gym. Or some sort of sexy time machine.

Nope, that was my envision of the perfect cage. And its going to be reality.

Hope i can get out tomorrow and work on the upper side bars. Those will be a bit more work to get them all looking nice.

Those upper side bars and gussets, were my favorite part of the design, so i know they are gonna be some work to get just right.

I already noticed a difference even with only half of my cage done. And I only have about 100' laid so far.

Idk if im gonna be prepared for the awesome that will happen on my first drive of this thing after this winter.... 4.56s, shock relocation, 57" rear springs, cage tied to frame.....

Im kind of scared that the old clunky blazer I know and love will act much more like a car or something. Hopefully the engine runs :haha:
