Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Lol. I wouldn't get carried away. The engines work great stock, that's the reasoning for me. Good cheap reliable power (except for when you suck in water at 5k Rpms)

You wouldn't get carried away...for a while.

Isn't this the build that was originally happy with 10-bolts? Until you started getting out and breaking stuff, then you decided you wanted more axle?

I have a hunch that power may end up the same way. You'll run it this way for the year and then find some way to make it better during next winter's off-season (be that power or some other aspect). :)

But for now, the dunes are calling. 4.56, 4.56, 4.56. :pimp:

That's it! Buying one of those cheapie eBay twin turbo kits for my 406.....

Upon watching the other video that comes up after the main video. It looks like a mild build.. Blow through carb, no intercooler, 10 psi of boost... Oh wait, there's also a 540 in there.....

Guy had a denali up at the dunes a few years back. Had an exhaust system on it and I kid you not, I was riding my quad, and heard this glorious big block sound. It sounded exactly like Zimmers 468. Im looking around and all I see is this denali, and I was like no way..... Then he smashed it up a hill right next to me, and that sold me on it. Sounded like heaven and it scooted too.

Im sure Ill just end up 5.3 or 6.0. Just for the fact I can have good fuel injection, and a better motor than getting more motor and then getting fuel injection....

My engine of choice would be a 6.2 LS

We have two of them on the farm in Denali`s...they don`t rattle? :dunno:

I was looking to get one in a Escalade or Tahoe.

But yeah a 502 would be my choice too! :thumb:

Cage is turning out Awesome BTW Adam!

I'm not saying they don't perform... the heads have amazing #'s..

but as an ancient gearhead, the 6.2 's in the boats are POS's IMO... cr@ppy oil pressure, sound like a fuggin hand grenade ready to let loose.....

I know no one in here believes me, and all are ghey over LS sh*t.. just sayin... I was building hotrods when many where in diapers, and I don't like the rotating architecture.. my opinion....

same with the 496's..... I'll take a 502...

I can appreciate that. I really just like them for the fact they come with fuel injection.... Whats the point of spending $2000 on a Fast system, when I could have an ls in and running for less $$$..

Thats really my view on it. If I wanted to stay carb, Id go BBC all day long. But I still cannot fathom how people can spend $2000 for fuel injection. Its cool, but good lord thats alot of money for a throttle body and fuel pump.... Now if they cost like $800.....

every 502 I've ever worked on was a roller, MPFI beast...

f*ck FAST.... you could work a tweaked BB EFI TBI for under a grand all day long with a bit of effort..

For what its worth, I wish I just sacked up and did an LS swap instead of going with the FAST system.

And LS engines in boats aren't a great combo with all the aluminum parts. I just hope they are running closed loop cooling systems. :eek1:

Funny story, I actually just test drove a 6.2L truck today. It definitely gets after it, but I can tell it desperately needs a tune to make the throttle and stupid auto respond like they should.

A factory tbi system will never support the hp that the fast kit can...

I'm with ryoken, it's hard to beat a torque curve that starts at idle and stays practically flat the entire time. Love me some big blocks..
