Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Time keeps getting harder to find every year that passes by. That way, you can continue doing what you love to do on the weekends, and build something real nice and not rushed to get it done.
You would probably take a decent beating on the parts anyway...

I just figured if I could get like 3k for them, that would buy me coil overs and some of the bypass money, and id just be materials into the rest. I could do the fab work in a solid couple of weekends....

Spoken like someone that has been there. I agree. If it ain't broke don't go fixing it. Find another rig throw beams under. You'll have something to go get your fix until it's done. When you get the beam truck done you'll have two kick ass rigs. You'll have one for dune duty and another for trails and other fun.

If I do not do crazy thing to blazer, I will just try some shock tuning to help it out in its current state, and run it as is for a long time.

I think you guys would change your minds on keeping mine as is, if you went for a ride in nates rig.

whatever you do, be unconventional....I love Nates truck because there isn't hardly any of them out there. A early/mid 60's would be awesomer...

If I build a rig frame up. I would do my own tube frame, and drop a very early like 30s/40s/50s body on it. I would chop out the floor so I could just drop the "body" over the cage and build my own floor and firewall.

Is that a vote for working on blazer? Or new rig?

I'd love to see your blazer with a serious long travel setup under it. Building another rig while keeping the blazer as is would be cool too but do you really need two go fast ones? The leaf sprung truck would get neglected after the beamed truck is up and running.

I vote, build the blazer.

I vote wheel blazer.

Build something else. Mostly something longer.

Like 120" or so.

My reasoning is its easier to start from scratch. No compromise frame. Ultimate strength, easy to change stuff easier to get 50/50 on weight blah blah blah.

You know you want too, I think you'd be happier with the end result.

Another vote here for keep the Blazer as is and start from scratch on a new rig, do it slow and do it right . . . or . . . just save up and buy someone else's beamed rig. It's almost always considerably cheaper that way.

Two questions come to mind....

(1) Do you ( Or will you ) have enough money to build another project without needing the money from parting out ( Or selling ) current truck?
(2) Are you going to be willing not to have a truck to play in for how ever long it takes to build a new truck?
