Euzoa's (re)build and rant

yep, rebuilding mine to a lvl 2. They said by using mine it will knock 200 off the trans price. and install is 450 + trans + TV cable (just in case), cleaning out the cooler lines and replacing them if needed. so expensive, but i know what I'm getting

True.

Years ago, actually when I was in the Marines, I had a '92 Blazer K1500 with a 700R4 that my dad (the prior owner) had payed to have rebuilt. Beefed up some and with a shift kit since dad used the Blazer for towing. I put 60,000 miles on it and that thing shifted firmer and nicer the whole time than any other 700R4 I've ever used.

I think if you aren't planning on doing extreme stuff with it a well rebuilt 700R4 should last a long, long time and keep you happily spinning at lower RPM's.

I dropped the truck off today. The Bowtie shop, while looking well organized, is definitly set up for a website based buisness, no waiting room, no counter or well marked office even, but for all that, seems like the know what they are doing.

Going to be 1850ish including tax, which isnt bad considering.

Not at all actually. Think dad paid like $1500 15 or so years ago.

Well I could tell you not to deal with Bowtie because cause the were a day late, or didnt install my temp guage, or because we had a problem with the valve body...But It would really be your loss, The called me and told me they would be a little longer getting it done, and they knocked 60 bucks off for the temp guage.

The valve body, I made it about 5 miles before she would only shift WOT. I pulled over, called them, they told me to try a few things, then told me exactly what it was, and to get it back to their shop. While i waited they swapped it out.

The salesman, manager, and shop owner all said it happens sometimes but they were sorry about it. They were all very nice, very friendly.

As to how the transmission works, I can't really tell you. How do you compare falling down stairs to riding an elevator? Sure both get you to the bottom but one is a hell of alot more pleasant than the other.

Under heavy throttle the shift is firm but smooth, under light throttle if it wasn't for the RPM drop i would barely know it shifted. It doesnt behave like any other older Chevy transmission i have ever had, so i don't know if it is exactly as it should be, but it seems much better to me. I only wish i had the temp guage hooked up just to be sure it wasnt over heating(very long grade back toward home).

Overall, I would tell anyone to go to them, they have a glowing recomendation from me!

This weekend I am going to try to get the crack under my seat welded up, and run it for a while.

Got any plate steel? If you find my build thread you can see what we did to mine. Beefed up the floor at the mounts. Prevents the cracking from happening again.

I will take a look. pblaze is going to do the welding for me, I will either see what he thinks or bring some of my own stuff

Edit: Got a link?

I have plenty of steel plate. I checked out your link too; nice work AJ.

Credit goes to my buddy who did the welding and CK5 here where I learned of that trick.

I just got the plate.

Looks good! If he is game so am I.

Also need to do my trans temp guage, Im thinking maybe in the venthole by the door (vent is broken anyway)

On another note, here is what i did all morning...

Wind turbine safe access and rescue prac-app

the final step in my troops to energy class, practicing safe climbing(being sure your hooked up at all times) and different rescues for different scenarios (the guy hanging is simulating having fallen off the top of the tower).

Also, Those non padded webb harnesses will either cut off blood flow, or pinch your nuts when you put your weight down on em. There is no inbetween.

Ahhhhhhh...forgot about that. Was thinking Marine Corps for a sec.

I've actually heard that. Friend's dad was a lineman.

Well, good news bad news situations.

Good news, The cracks by the seat mounts are fixed, but the previous owner had been there before...and in true previous owner style messed it all up. The replacement panels didnt get braced, they are a lighter guage it seems like and had bondo one them!

That got braced up decently, we didn't do real thick bracing on all of it, just some angle to keep it from flexing as much as it was.

Getting ready to put it back together i rolled the carpet back further... Rust! in my bought in california because there is no rust Jimmy! I was pissed!

Pblaze didn't miss a beat, bent me a panel, a little cut, a little weld, some spray paint... Almost good as new.

There is a small spot on the other side, but since i had to get to work it will have to wait.

Here are some pics of the days work (only pics of the smaller crack, the drivers side the sun was to bright for a good one)

Looks like good work, and I am glad to hear about Bowtie. I have been thinking that I will pick up a 700r4 to swap with the t350 when I tear her down this year. Nice to hear that they are doing good work, and such great customer service. Might need to get them to build a stage 4 at some point to put into my Camaro.

You could grow corn on my driveway now. Don't go mud boggin before ya work on the rig next time!

Just kidding, I'm glad to help, We can hit that other side before you go if our schedules allow.

Hey, it was just hangers on from when we went camping! Didn't see much point in washing it with the trans acting up

It is currently only rocking a 350 with a 700r4 of unknown age. Hell, it doesn't even run yet, but for $200 I couldn't pass on it. Eventually though, I have some ideas for where I would like to see it go.
