First Gen, all hardware no software

So I bought this '70 K5 and fell in the rabbit hole ever since. It was tired, a victim of someone's "perfume on a pig" restoration. Original 350/350.Paint is nice.
Not at all I'm gaining a collection of stock parts I'm probably never gonna use, dm me if you need anything

Every time you see a video of the MightAsWellK5 doing a big smoky burnout in the future it would be fun to say: "Yeah, that's my gas pedal in there!" :haha:

I'll send you a PM. Thanks!

Demo day, I dunno why ppl use Silicone and bondo like this, remove the rest of this wood, dropped the tank and the hitch as well. The tank really needs to move rearward 3" but even with the hitch removal there's still a cross member directly above it that would need to be cut...

Finally an engine day, my machinist (uncle) is a long shore man and he's on call 24/7 so it's really tough to coordinate our schedules. Hopefully tomorrow he'll be free and we can finish up the cam end play and button it the rest of the way. Then on to the exhaust build :surepal:

Dropped the engine in after smoothing and painting the firewall a bit behind the valve covers. Started reworking a $700 set of hustlers. Nerve wracking but satisfied. The factory steering shaft hardly fits with the bulbous rubber cup so a Borgeson should fit nicely. Driver side I actually ended up swapping spots in the collector for at least two of the primaries. I'll also no longer have a heater box... I'll pick up a universal kit from Summit before it gets cold out

Picked up these snazy billet 383 badges. I ve wanted these since I built the 383 the first time. Super high quality and Brandon will make custom billet anything including valve covers and custom badging where the k5blazer/k10 20,30 goes. You can see his work on insta as well

Done with cage fab for a bit. It's a good holding point and anyway my material came in to finish these headers so they can go to jet-hot for coating.
Some of you may remember I talked about bolt in tubular Rocker box/supports. These are kinda it. Theyll also tie the cage together and they are on 2" poly isolator plates from Kurt at Diy4x.

Looks good. Does the tubing just bolt to the floor behind each seat where the tub steps up? I’m adding PRP low backs to my buddies first gen so I was looking at yours for ideas.

I ended up making an entire frame to fit the fixed brackets I got from Kartek Offroad that I'll later put those adjustable seat tracks from chassis unlimited on. You could just make up a simple frame to bolt to the floor that holds the tracks. I built off the cage bc it was already going to be there but I'm also caging to hold the body together and keep the doors shut correctly

this rig already has a cage with a harness bar behind the seat so I plan to tie into that and cage the floor for the PRP seats, sliders and 5 point belts. Thanks for the pics and ideas.

This is going to be an issue. I installed the sheer pin tab on the wrong side. Built the cage on top of it and I don't think I have an inch to push the cage forward :doah:
