Yeah I wasn't sure if I liked the 83-84 with the colored band through the center but I like now.

I wanted to swap since the 88 has cool air fresheners and colored key.

Yeah, the metal nut isn't very strong. If you use channel locks to remove it, it's easy to crush. The easiest answer is to just buy a new speedo cable. They're very cheap (Summit or Amazon), and a new one should turn more freely than an old one.

The speedometer cable from Amazon is 8 1/2" to short. I'll try Summit racing.

It's very loud but surprisingly it runs pretty good, it's going to the muffler shop tomorrow to get a flowmaster 50 series installed. The wiring and vacuum mess, there seems to be a draw on the battery. There was resistance with the firewall unplugged, it seems to be the wire ocoming off the alternator.

Check that fuse-able link just up that wire. I had one fail and start drawing power.
