Grandpa’s Blazer gettin fixed up…

Papa is fixing up grandpa’s ole Blazer
So thought could clear all and roll out chassis using 10ton stands with 8” blocks. Not so much. Any ideas on how to separate when you don’t have a lift?

I have a tractor with forks but won’t clear everything to get them in lift and clear

Nothing short of building a bridge under the body with lumber that you lift possibly in stages, I used my engine hoist first in the back then in the front.
Extend beyond your wheels so you can roll the frame from under it.

Sounds like a plan. Ty

If you get some 4x4 posts or other solid lumber that's longer than the body is wide, you can lift the body and put the posts cross-wise between the body and frame. Then the jack stands can hold the body up outside of the wheel track. You'll probably need to do a little carpentry and add blocks to put the support where you want it and not just on the rockers. You can get the jack stands higher and higher with cinder blocks, lumber cribbing or whatever. Assuming you'll be using your floor jack in a non-standard method (extending it with chunks of lumber or whatever), just go a little higher in each corner at a time, such that if the jack were to kick out, it would still be sitting on the other 3 corners and your hands wouldn't be between parts.

Don't forget to disconnect E-brake, Steering shaft, Transmission and T-case linkage, Hood cable, Accelerator cable, Engine wiring harness at firewall, AC lines, heater hoses, Fuel filler neck, Axle vents and probably some other stuff.

You might also reach out to friends to see if they have tall jack stands, or other tools that would help.

Thanks for detailing my suggestion.
I tend to assume people can see what I think.
I have done it every way that on can think of along the years and short of having a lift, this was the best way.
The first one we did was my 74, we had 4 strong guys and we carried it off and the shop was big enough that it was easy.
The following 3 times I was by myself and had to find ways.

On a side note? Anywhere to post functional repurposing parts? My latest endeavor.

Something for enjoying a vice or too between building and progressing with the K5
