GsxrMike's build thread...Frostbite 2011 Pictures are in!

Is that Kert's dash?

No it's Mike's Dash! I just took a piece of 18 gauge aluminum and cut it to size and slapped it in the brake and wa-la. I cut the holes for the gauges with a hole saw and I cut the other holes with some snips and a unibit. The tach sits above and to the left of the steering column and I plan on adding two more gauges to the top row.

You like it?

IS it a edelbrock? Does it have spring loaded needles and seats?

Yes it is an edelbrock but I don't think it is spring loaded. I bought the kit but I never installed it. I was just sitting parked where it sits in the picture and reved it up to about 5K and then it started ideling like crap and I couldn't get it to rev up again unless I feathered the tall skinny pedal, then it cleared right up. Any ideas?

sounds like a fuel delivery problem.check fuel pump flow and filter.and also the inlet to the carb.sounds like the carb is running dry on full throttle and then having to wait to fill back up the bowl to run steady.

Nice. Theres not much local. We mostly go to Kansas Rocks in Fort Scott KS. But there are a lot of parks within a 2 to 5 hour drive. This summer we are planning to hit up Disney OK and a few others.

I actually bought the K5 with the suspension the way it is, I just modified it a little. I ran down and took a couple of pics for ya though.

:saweet:Thanks man that was cool. I am waiting on my new springs to arrive. And have been trying to work through how to mount. It looks like mine will be farther forward. How close is your axle to stock location?

So I tried to go wheeling yesterday and thank goodness right before I pulled down into "the point of no return" I decided to check and make sure my 4 wheel drive worked. It didn't, found a broken front drive shaft yoke and then this morning I decided to pull the front diff cover and this is what I found.

So my next project is getting the 60 rebuilt and installed. I have just over a month before my next wheeling trip and I would like to get some seat time before then so we will see.

On top of that my company just got audited and although the news was over all good, I have a very large bill. I am meeting with my accountant tomorrow to see how much I have to pay. If the number is low I am going to order everthing I need to complete the swap. If not I am going to move to Canada. J/K! :haha:

I took some pics but I cut the back part of my frame off so it is kinda hard to figure where the rear sping hangers are mounted. The back edge of the rear hangers are 3.5" from the center of the large hole in the frame. I am guessing my rear axle is back 2"-4" from the stock location.

Let me know if you need anything else.

So I blew up a front driver's side ujoint trying to get out of a 5' snow drift in my driveway. Dug for 3 hours to get her back into the garage. Replaced ujoing and stub shaft and rebuilt both hubs. Then I tried to go wheeling the other day and right before I pulled into the "point of no return" I said to my buddy, "I guess we should make sure the hubs are locked in. I threw her into 4 low and got nothing from the front tires. Pulled back up to the entrance and found both front hubs were locked in but I had no 4wd. Upon further inspection I found my front driveshaft was broken up by the transfercase and my transfercase leaking a bit of strawberry milk shake. I was puzzled because it was brand new fluid with no road time. I got it back to my house and found the damn tcase cracked, and the ring, pinion and spider gears are all in pieces in the bottom of my D44. Plan is to take the front half of my old 208 and throw it on my new 208, rebuild D60, install detroit, install flanges, install srw hubs and then install the D60 in place of my busted D44. I have an event I want to go to on the 27th of Feb. I hope I can get it all done in time. Here are a couple of pics for your viewing pleasure.
