"Hardcore" 89 (Black and Blue). IT RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS. BUILD ON HOLD

Those new sliders turned out great. I know you said they're just cosmetic steps but if you end up wanting more grip a small piece of expanded metal tacked over the diamond plate would give you tons of grip.

Hopefully cutting my rockers out and moving my sliders up along with the added width to them will prevent some of the damage to my doors..especially if I throw some nicer ones on...these ones are a little beat up after the last trip :haha::haha:

I don't think that molding will ever conform to a new skin. :D:haha:

if you're going to have to cut the bottom of the doors off to move your sliders up, I recommend you install a "sill plate" of sorts to keep weather out. I just cut my '83 body up and let it be. Lots of wind/water got in. In the '73 I built a 5" tall sill plate and it keeps the weather out great!

I decided not to cut that high. Just replace the rockers with the 2x3 my sliders are made from.

I rarely hit my sliders on anything now.

So I ordered some stuff today.:D

Got the rest of my fittings and lines for Hyd assist from Surpluscenter. ~$45

Got as shackle set for my anti wrap bar, some fabricator bushing sets, some bushings, and a JKW cap from DIY. ~$110

I finally bit the bullet and called Pro-Tools. They threw in the 240* dies upgrade at no cost if I bought today so I figured why not. :wink1: Great guys to talk to on the phone. Very helpful with all my questions. After shipping was $1365.

So...ummmm...you are in Key West, thousands of miles from home, during Spring Break, with bountiful beauties running amok and yet you spend over $1300 on parts for your truck.:eek1:

You rock dude.:D

Stop in and see us sometime if you are close by.:wink1:

Uhhhm Yup! :D I ordered all the stuff while I was at work so not to cut into time participating in the local festivities! Most of the stuff I ordered should be there right around the time I get home. I should have ordered everything earlier, but I really over-research large purchases LOL. I made an Excel spreadsheet with bender prices and accessories :haha:

Yeah I'd love to see more CK5ers in my work travels, but there isnt a whole lot of guys around where we go!

Edit oh yeah I forgot to mention. Not only did the Navy twist my arm and make me go to Key West during Spring Break they also paid for all this stuff with the $500 a week per-diem we get here :wink1:

No instruction book for the bender?

I love them! I wish somebody in my club ran rockers so we could compare. A few of the guys run TSL's but there are a lot of Toyo MT and Baja claws and I have no issues on most obstacles that they do, but thats kinda apples and oranges. :wink1: I thought about the Rockers, but they are wiiide! The LTB's are listed as 16, but they are not quite that wide.

Today was a mix of snow mud roots and rocks and they did very well. I ran them at 3 up front and 2 psi in the rear today which seems to work well up here in the northwest.

So I finally got around to starting on this thing. It's Little League season so between coaching two different teams I have baseball 6 days a week. Needless to say I won't be wheeling for a couple months. Figure I'd try to wrap up a couple small projects.

Cleaned a spot for it. I wish I would have washed it, but this was spur of the moment.

Anybody know if I was supposed to get a Jam nut with my Ballistic Joint?

Bracket all welded on the axle. PITA welding down there!

Hopefully after my game tomorrow and Sunday I can get my brackets cut for the crossmember and get the lower bar put together too.

a jam nut doesn't seem necessary because nothing can rotate, so the joint couldn't loosen.

One note there would be that, while you are correct, the threads will likely spin before the joint will rotate. The threads will wear out a lot quicker (especially under that kind of load) than that joint will, a jam nut would be a good idea IMO.

Ok I am sure I can pick one up at a parts store.

One more? How tight does the spanner ring get tightened on the Ballistic Joint?
