Thanks! I think I am just going to bolt them back how they were today. I leave for a long weekend of camping tomorrow so no sense in cutting up the rockers right now. It will just sit in the garage till I get back.

hmmm driving a toyota tocoma while a perfectly good crew sits in the drive way hmmm whats with that lol fuel milage i bet

Just an idea, if you are wanting that diamondplate step area to be more slip-resistant, on the cheap, try going to lowes or home depot and picking up some kind of anti-slip deck paint. I can't remember a specific name right now, but its like paint with sand in it, and once applied feels kind of like sandpaper. Just an idea.

Like the rockers!

HEY! WTF? You build cage, we want updates.

:woot:

Yeah I had to go 100 miles one way to pick up the tubing. No way I was taking the Crew cab. I would have only been able to afford half a stick after I got there :haha:

Good idea. I'm gonna paint the add ons with rubberized undercoat stuff. Its been on my sliders for years and has held up well.

Right on Brian...

I was wondering when you were gonna be picking that up...

So, the fun begins...:D

Yeah like I was telling you the company had a surplus of tube from the previous owners Sprint Car hobby so they just wanted to get rid of it. They had 30 sticks so we got all 30. The owner of the local Off Road shop is the guy who set the deal up. He got 14, I got 12 and my buddy bought 4.

Skagit steel wanted $130 a stick. :eek1:

Oh its 1.75 HREW .120 wall by the way :wink1:

When you gonna get started???

Do you have a notcher yet??? I used the HF one clamped to the bench with a cordless dewalt on low and set the clutch... That way when it binds up it doesn't rip your arm off...:D Oh and cutting oil... I made it through my build with just two(different sizes) of rigid hole saws... Still using them...

Pretty soon, but it will be slow going I'm sure. I think I am going to start on a bumper before I start on a cage.

I bought a 10 lb roll of wire today and some new bolts of the correct length so I can removed the stacked washers.

My holes in the concrete weren't dead on due to the bit wandering some so I opened up two holes in the base so I can also get the 4th bolt in.

Yep I have the Pro-Tools notcher. It came with the package. There is a thread in the Tool forum. Pretty much complete set.

I still need to build a stand for the notcher though. I don't have a sturdy bench.

that spider is called a giant house spider, they are bad ass. fastest spider in the world. i think .8 second per foot. maybe faster i dont remember, dont kill them as their arch enemy is the hobo. and they will keep the hobos away. they make it all the way down to the portland area, but not much farther south. they are more common in sw canada.
ive had them as pets, but they only last about 2 years. pretty cool to watch em eat crickets and other spiders. specially when they are hungry!

nice job on the sliders. i'm waiting to see the install.

did you put anchors in the concrete for the bender? if so what size? i need to mount mine, and thats what i was thinking would work best for easy removal to get cars in the garage.

Yeah, that notcher is built with the same concept as the HF one... A lot better quality, but same principle... Go with a good hole saw and pick up some CNC brand cutting oil... It's kinda foamy so it sticks better to the cutting area...

You can also set up several notches on short pieces that you can use as angle finders... Write the settings of the notcher on them with a sharpy... If you do them at 10* increments then you can test fit for the angle and if it falls between two of them your way closer to start with... If that makes since...:D

Thats a good idea with the angle finder pieces!

Had to build a plate and a stand for the notcher today. Pro Tools included a good drawing of the plate.

Drawing traced out on some 1/4" plate

Top plate and base cut out. Came out pretty close for free handing it with a torch :p:

Used some .180 wall square tube cause my piece of .250 wall was only 24" long LOL.

Cutout in the center is for the pivot bolt on the clamp. After playing with it a little it needs to be just a little bit bigger. I'll just dremel it a bit and it will be good.

All together.

Works really smooth! I didnt get a straight notch, but I didnt really mess with the settings much. Just wanted to try it :wink1:

I also cleaned the garage today so I have room to work on any upcoming projects.

DSCN4946.jpg

I also got my sliders painted. Used some Rustoleum truck bed rubberized stuff. I used it last time when I put the sliders on years ago and it has held up good.

FINALLY got around to putting the sliders on! I was distracted for a couple days with the new fab equipment :wink1:

I just bolted them back up for now, but when I bring it in the garage next time I'm going to replace the rockers with them.
