"Hardcore" 89 (Black and Blue). IT RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS. BUILD ON HOLD

I realize that, but as I understand it, you need to flip the 241 if the front output is on the same side as the 205 front output.

Thats what I understood too. Chris 38377k5 used a pass drop and flipped it for his. I'll have to check his thread as I dont remember why he did it.

I copied your idea from your rear bumper brackets. I am going to put a 1.75" notch in the upper corner of each plate to hold the tube as well.
I kinda wondered. :D Mimicking and then making better = best compliment! :D

Drivers drop 241 out of 90, drivers drop 205 out of ford. D&D plate with custom billet spacer added. D&D wants you too make the shift rails come out the back of the 205. I wanted mine out the front so all 3 shifters have the same pattern.

im contemplating the 241/205 aswell.

dd 241 out of a 94, and 6 round pattern 205 out of a 91.

gonna just go ahead and make it shift ou the back i do believe.

Some guys are also notching the case and welding a piece of aluminum tubing cut in half so the shift rail can move into it.

Nevermind, it looks like you don't have to flip the 241. :doah:

Ok back to the bumper. Got both side plates finished all the way now, got the top plate cut to match the contour of the tube.

Both side plates with the holes drilled.

Mocked up on the truck.

Notched the side plate to hold the tube as well. These were a PITA! I used my notcher to do a 1.75" hole which was easy, however where they hold the tube is in a bend so the notches had to be ground out more. The fit is not as tight as I would like, but not horrible either. I'll clamp it as close as I can before welding.

Just have to make the lower plate still and the center section should be done.

 Dude I really like the way you're doing this. Looks really strong and low profile. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people copied that bumper. What winch are you using? Obviously a bottom mounted one.

Its a Warn 9500Ti Its not as low profile as it could be, but thats because I didn't want to recess it into the grille. It sits as far back as i can get it now.

I rarely hit my winch mount on anything though. It seems like I hit my spring hangars more than anything up there.

Thanks for the compliments man :thumb:

looking very good....I need a bender someday.

Main tube welded to the center section and stinger is welded up too. Pics tonight!

Main tube mounted up :)

Nevermind the fancy twine tool

More fancy use of parachute cord! Stinger all mocked up.

Took it back off and added some stitch welds on the bottom side and finished fully welding the tube to the side plates on the back side.

Made some caps with the hole saw.

All welded up.

Mounted. I cut these short in anticipation of cutting my fenders a bit more in the front.

Got the side brace tubes cut and notched. Have to do a bit of grinder work to fit them flush against the side plates still, but they are pretty much ready.

It appears somehow over the years of carefully maneuvering my compact vehicle through the open trails of the Pacific Northwest I have tweaked my body a little bit. The bumper is pretty much identical on both sides as far as measurements and angles, but the wrap around is much closer to the body on the pass side than the driver. I though t I messed up, but it appears its just my truck ;) Its probably not even noticeable to others, but I see it.

Used up my first stick of tube counting the 3' I had to use to calibrate the bender so I have just short of 17' in this so far. Only two bars left to bend notch and it will be done! Oh besides a fairlead plate and a bottom plate.

That was the second thing I noticed. The first was the design feature of using the fancy blue & yellow "Irwin" bumperettes. I guess that just wasn't feasible to carry over into production.

Seriously? You are supposed to say "I didn't notice"

and Yeah I couldn't worth the bumperettes into the final design :haha:

Looking good...looks alot like the Blazen off road bumper I just bought.
How much in materials you got there?
