Horton, driveshaft opinions wanted

Looks like higher door bars might be in order

The door bars would have had to have been a foot higher. so no go there.

This kind of stuff happens the only reason I was really into the rock is cause I picked up a roller that kept both back tires off the ground for 20 feet or so

That is a great picture except for the damage.

Eric are you picking your nose in that pic???

I can't even see me in that pic. You got good eyes there Dave. To answer your question no. Well probably not. Well not usually. Ok its certainly possible
:haha::haha::haha:, just bustin' your balls man!:waytogo:

I honestly wouldn't trust those sliders with the teflon blocks. It is a good idea but for our heavy vehicles I just do not see it working. Well I can see it working just not for long. And the bearing slider, looks like a good idea but could be improved upon using keeper bearings. Otherwise you will have lots of noise and movement in it. For example try sandwiching a tire between two boards and move the tire in one direction. One of the boards will go backwards the other forward. You would need to have a separate bearing on each rider for this to be effective.

Yah if I ever did anything like the slider I would have to play around with different bearings and stuff like that. It would certainly be stronger than the one I pictured, its just for race cars.

did some more wheeling today.

Man talk about a love hate relationship with leaf springs. I love how stable the truck is. I hate how loosey goosey they are when turning. I can still see my shackle deflecting when steering. Its always going to do it brand new bushings on both the leaf spring and the upper shackle hanger. And my new shackles are cross tied.

But dang so stable its unreal the side angles I can put this truck on, it doesn't unload as bad as coilovers or coils or airshocks going up hill.

It flexes just fine but I hate the fact I have to run a long travel (heavy) driveshaft. I don't like getting hung up on my spring hangers that stick out the front.

I think over all I am going to link the front with coils or coilovers and I am going to link the back with leaf springs. Not going to happen anytime soon. I would really like to go full hydro when I do it but I don't see that happening ( unless my buddy decides to trade me.........again:doah:)

Anyway stay tuned cause now I have made a desicion and am going to work towards that, Hoping to get coilovers for the front and some custom leaf packs for the rear and link it all up.

Anyway here are some cool pics from today

When I posted those look at the 2 pics right together, one where I am straight on to the hill the other "action" shot where I am not. I had not backed down at all, a rock broke off and I fell there after the rocks quit moving, had me worried a bit

So I don't understand what you mean by linking the rear with leafs? 1/4 elliptical?
I can't wait to get going on mine again.

I love your rig so much.... one day I'll be there. I need to get a tow rig and get serious.

Links/ leafs seem to be best of both worlds, except for ease of ride height adjustment, but stability beats that all day. Will be watching to see how you go about it
