Personally I think stretching the wheelbase on the blazer just wouldn't look right, I think a bobbed burban would look better but that's not the hat we are talking about, given your fab skills I think shortening the frame and fish plating would be the better option, might kinda suck to have to shorten wire harness, fuel and brake lines but I'm sure you have an idea how to without too much hassle tho

Way easier to shorten harnesses than to lengthen them. :deal:

Getting on the back of the semi is important. It will only be in Ca maybe twice a year. And I am never in a hurry anymore.

I want to be able to haul it there, then use the Bla-hoe (just made that up) to move the boat around.

Tazer?

Too bad you don't have GMC trim. that would be a Timmy or a Jahoe.

People hear you say that and you might be getting invited to a lot of sleep overs! :haha:

Went to look at a 2003 Chevy 1500 4x4, 5.3, single cab long bed truck. 105k on the odometer. Talked him down to $3k. Work truck version. I always walk away from a sale unless it is just ridiculously good. The issue I had with this one is, no cruise control and the bed is destroyed. I mean throw it away bad. But I would build an aluminum flat bed. So not that big of a deal.

But as I am driving home, I start to think how cool the Blazer would be with that shortened frame and drive train under it. Am I nuts for thinking about going back for it?

$3k doesn't seem too bad. You've been looking whereas I haven't so you probably have a better feel for the odds of another better deal coming up.

Richie Brothers Auctions had a TON of pickups in their yard a couple weeks ago. Not sure if they had an auction since then. I'm figuring there's a bunch of pickups in the auction because the oil development has slowed way down up here.

Probably not. What are your goals now? It seems like they keep changing. :dunno:

I assume you're looking for a cure for boredom? Otherwise I'd just put the new drivetrain in the K5 and leave it. But I think I said that before.

Bought it. Forgot how nice the newer trucks drove. This thing is tight and drives nice and straight.

As I was paying the kid, he says, "I forgot to tell you something". I think "oh crap. Here we go".
Him, "my friend I bought it from had some work done to it when he thought he was going to make a killing moving snow. He had the transmission pulled and built with stronger components at 80k miles."

Me, "what was done?"

Him, "not sure, but put it tow/haul mode empty and stand on the gas."

Me, "OK. how long was it used as a plow truck?" I new this going in.

Him, "he did 3 parking lots once each. Lost his shirt, that's why I bought it."

Me, "OK?"

I drive away. Get to the next intersection. Turn on tow/haul mode and stand on it. Ran to 5k rpm and it went into second and started spinning the tires. Might have a tune in it also.

No for Chinamans, this year.

Will sit for a while. To many other things to work on first.

But this ecalated out of control fast.

Friend called from Ca. I told him about the truck.

Barry, what are the plans?

Wade, strip body, shorten frame and stuff, but Blazer body on it.

B, what is going to happen to the Blazer rolling chassis?

W, strip the stuff that can be saved for the Jimmy.

B, running complete chassis, right?

W, yes.

B, so you will have a titled truck cab left over.

W, yes.

B, so stick my axles that are in your barn under it.

W, your D60, 14bff, brand new with detroits and 5.13:1 axles?

B, yep.

So now I am swapping bodies and building a buggy with a climate controlled cab. Will narrow the cab first. So I guess I will have to start 2 build threads later.
