Using a proven wheeling truck with another driving truck, plus more parts.

I want to say the aluminum intake on my 454 was 25 ft-lbs. Surely that will be okay with the aluminum heads too.

So one if the things on my list now that the engine is between the rails is exhaust.
As many already know, the stock TBI manifolds don't make it easy to get the right pipe over to the left side up front.
The rams horn style manifolds that were on the engine in the '72 hit the Edelbrock heads before they are close to correct with the head flange. And they also make things tight between the collector and the block....
I have some factory '72 truck manifolds to try, but I may be in the market for headers....
And this makes pulling a tank easy...

I have that concern , talked with the bent one about it .....
Trying to get the exhaust away from the fuel lines and lessen heat into the t-case would mean crossover to the left side. Trying to do that can be a challenge.
I already thought about moving the fuel lines may be a possibility.

The '70 truck and TBI manifolds fit to the engine , clear everything. The '70 ones would be good for a cross pipe. They have the smallest, worst ports!!!!! Next as far as port matching , and fitting are the TBI ones.... The headers are big enough to flow nicely but hit the shackle so hard that they probably won't bolt up flat to the head. And of course, the ram horn ones hit the flange of the head, by the bolts....they are next best with port matching....
The exhaust ports measure about 1.415 by 1.37.
My wife won't be thrilled with this news!!!!
I am going to look more at some serious work with a die grinder before I get MORE serious about headers.

I know all about trying to save money where you can. I really hope you can find a way to spring for the headers. I get that you already fired the money cannon on those heads, but you would be giving up so much of the benefit of those fancy new heads by choking them off with stock manifolds. Not my money on the line here I know, but I think it is well worth a few more $$$ for the benefits you gain with them.
The Hedman 69230's are $185 at Summit. I think they'll fit your heads and they for sure fit in these 4x4 squares about as good as possible.
