K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

Avery's, is the first rig that made me jealous of you truck guys.... :doah:

Ever since I saw that bed, I was like: "Man... I wish I had a removable bed!"

I like my truck but sometimes I wish I had a Blazer for the rear seat.

I think the hot ticket is to have one of each. Or a crew cab. :pimp:

Are k30's good to off road in or are they too heavy?

K30's more than make up for their weight with strength. That's why most of us have put 1 ton axles under our half and 3/4 ton trucks. The curb weight of a k30 isn't too much more than a 1/2 ton when emptied.

I had a friend that needed some welding work done tonight on his DD so I spent most of the night doing that. Kinda fun to start a project and finish it in the same night then see the truck drive away! :dunno::D

I couldn't bring myself to call it a night without touching the k10 so I put the shafts together. When you're used to 10 bolt shafts these are freakin' massive.
Put them together with full circle snap rings, heard it can make a big difference on things coming apart on ya'.

I'm going to put the front end back together and possibly buy myself some birthday exhaust stuff if the guy calls me back today. :D

This morning I drove out to a guy's place off craigslist that had some headers for sale. I know, I know... I complained about my constant leaking from my current headers but for the price I couldn't resist. They're SUPER short and will give me a ton of room to work with for routing without running into stuff. Plus I can make my crossover in front of the sump which should be cool.
Sanderson ceramic coated... nicer than I'd buy brand new but the guy bought them for a hot rod project then a guy came along and made a crazy offer on the entire car so he sold it but never got a chance to put these on.

When I got home I started on the front end. I ground a few little dimples into the inside of the knuckle in four spots to clear the outermost edges of the yokes and they slipped in like a glove. I got the driver's side all put together but had to go so this is where it sits. It's my birthday today so the family is all getting together for dinner at my grandma's house tonight, I love wrenching but a birthday dinner with salmon and homemade chocolate sheet cake kicks the k10 to the backburner until tomorrow.

Well I just got back from some great salmon and "Texas sheet cake" for a little birthday get together with the family. My family rocks, they got me some 4 Wheel Parts gift cards and an ARB compressor so I can actually make use of that spendy front end I've put so much into. :)

Dayum those are some beeftastic flanges on those headers! Sweet score!! :waytogo:

Avery,

A set of Stage-8 locking header bolts and a good quality set of header gaskets would solve all your leaking issues. :waytogo:

Conceptually they are dirt simple... A long teardrop lockwasher slips over the bolt head and touches the header tube, and a c-clip holds the lock washer in place. Basically, it allows you to make the header bolts snug but not overtight... And as soon as the bolt tries to loosen, the washer hits the header tube and prevents any movement.

A bit pricey, but effective.
