linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

made a little more progress, moved the lower mounts out a little farther than i planned because the tires dont come in near as far as i thought they would. Looking from the top in the second picture they come in about as far as the caliper bracket bolt. the white mark at the inside of the link mount will be where the center of the coilover is mounted.

Wow CoPart is dangerous. I had to stop myself from bidding on a '99 M3 with a bad motor and a wrecked '14 2500. :doah:

Got the bottom links where they are going to go, now for the top links, how long do i make them? ive seen the number 75%, but is that number based off looked straight from the side center of axle to mounting point? or 75% of the bottom link length, either way that seems short to me. the bottom links are 50ish center to center and angled out slightly.

the first picture is at full bump, the lower link is completely flat.
the second picture is 2 or 3 inches down but easier to see how long the links look (51 inches). Front links are really going to look long at 5 foot.
i think im going to make the top links around 48 inches long, that would put the angle inside the V of the top links roughly 45 degrees.

edit: also, that round crossmember that i put about a foot in front of the axle, you can probably slide a piece of paper between it and the top links at full bump, might have to trim that or let it clearance itself

ok, got the links where they are going to go i think, at full bump the top links hit the body pretty good and the crossmember pretty good. so we will worry about that later.

when one side is at full bump and the other at full droop im pretty sure the top of the tire will rub with my original placement plan for the coilover, so i might move the top in a bit and maybe run a wheel spacer. so the whole point of me running the wider axle and narrowing the frame wasnt quite enough. lol

the top link mounts on the frame will be getting a gusset behind them and and probably a crossmember.

even though theres quite a bit that needs some attention, im pretty happy with how it turned out.

ignore how messy the shop is.:D

I'd put the tire on and see if it'll actually fit where your thinking. A piece of 3.5 inch abs tube works good for mockup of shock space.. figure the shocks major diameter will actually be 3.25 or so.. with the coils.

I haven't even looked up how wide the coils are for a 2.5 king yet, I was assuming it was 4 inches, so I might have more room than I planned at least lol

probably going to go with a 241 for the transfercase, maybe later add an exo box to it. guess i should start looking for one before i got both axles done.

Coilover mounting. Does the bolt go parallel to the axle or perpendicular?
