I was just talking to Heath about wanting one so I can tack it up in the shop :waytogo:

One thing I do have so far is from a data log. Didn't know I could do this until heath pointed it out.
When I get a chance I'm going to do a 0-100 run also.
The time is from when I hit 'Start log' till then.
Just subtract the 0 time from the 60......

0-60 in 6.04 seconds:biggrin:
For a fat azz 3/4 burb, that's not bad lol.

Had my first scary hiccup with this today.
I don't exactly know what happened, but I have some theories.

I got on a long, straight, flat , section of highway after work. Stopped , started a data log to do a 0-100 time.
Smashed the gas and held it as close to the floor as I could. It got all the way to 84mph, shifted into 3rd, and immediately shut down on me. I stopped the data log so I could see my gauges as I coasted.
Only thing that stood out was an A/F ratio of 33.5.
Which being the fact that it wasn't running, .... :dunno:

I looked at the data log and at the moment it all dropped off the throttle position sensor went from 91% to 0 And never came back up. Even though I was pushing the throttle and such trying to make it go lol.
Also, on the datalog, the A/F never went above like 16-17. Even though my 3" dash display said 33.5.
No idea what went on there.

After I coasted to a stop. I sat there wondering how long it would be before my wife woke up to come get me. Turned the key and tried it for giggles and it fired right up. Drove home like nothing ever happened...... ?

Kind of baffled at this point.

I think the 84mph in 2nd put the rpm a little high, it might have been outside the range that was programmed or the oil level got low and it shut itself to protect the engine.
How big is the oil pan and could it have starved for oil?

Were you the one who had that happen before or was it Scott with his 454?
Dying like this sounds familiar I know someone was having that issue
 
I had a burb a long time ago that had some sort of issue with the stock TBI.
That one died randomly.

This almost seemed like a limp mode of some sort. But not quite. I'm not sure if it was running in a sort of limp mode, or it was still in the on mode and my speed was keeping the engine turning because I was rolling so fast. Once it slowed way down and I was just coming to a rest the rpm fell to 0 and so did the oil pressure and such.
 
More I think of it it had to be the engine turning because of coasting.

I am talking someone recently with some aftermarket efi that was dying like this and the log would show it shut off.

It was the ProFlo 4 in the C10 doing that. I finally correlated it to the heater fan running on high. I'm assuming it's creating some sort of electrical interference the results in the PF4 shutting off momentarily. It seems odd but I haven't put the fan on high for several months and haven't had any issues.

I am guessing Rick is using an aftermarket system so maybe something similar happening with power
 
I wondered that. It's a Holley Terminator X

Been running it for over a year, and made many hard runs. Never an issue before.
I have volts on the datalog, and it stays at a constant 14.3-14.6 it looked like on the log . All the way till I stopped the log.
 
The fuel pump drive comes from the Holley. And I thought maybe the Holley seen something it didn't like and it shut that off. But I can't really find anything that I can think of it wouldn't like in the log.

I have to figure out how to adjust my time window. Then maybe I can figure out which of the events happened first.
In the log there's like 3-4 different pages of info. So I have to reduce the time frame for each one. Then start comparing.
If I'd been thinking I would have brought my laptop to work tonight :doah:lol.
 
One sensor I don't have, and never figured I needed is a fuel pressure sensor.
Time to get one I think.
 
Did you say you have an amazon throttle body? Did it come with an amazon TPS? You finally have actual WOT, it is possible since the TPS sensor suddenly said 0 (you mentioned that), which made the ECU think, oh, he wants to idle, so it immediately pulled fuel and reduced timing, which, when the throttle is still actually wide open, would likely cause the engine to stall. Also, you said it was floored, but it went from 91 down to 0. Well, it should of been 100 when floored, not 91, and obviously should of stayed there if floored, something is not right...

If that is the case, you should see it in the data log.

From what I see in the few parameters you showed, that could be all it was. As the target A/F ratio suddenly changed right when the RPM dropped.
Add the fuel lbs/hr, the TPS, Volts, oil pressure, and the ignition timing etc into that log screen and then you'll see more. Luckily you did a data log when it happened, that makes it much easier to figure it out...

I still never get 100% all the way through a run.. Where my seat is set and the softness of them it's hard to keep it on the floor. Usually I'm in the 90's the whole way.

I have been suspecting the TPS sensor may have been the issue.
 
Well, heath was right a while back. I got the heads, and tried my shaft rockers kit.
I thought all that was different was the intake rockers...... I was wrong :doah:. The whole thing is different. Damnit.
Luckily I'm still within summits return/exchange time frame. Barely.
So I'll get that process started tonight.

Bolt holes don't line up, and the steel rail they mount on isn't machined to fit the head correctly.

This is why you stay focused and not change your mind half way through like I seem to do a.... SQUIRREL!..... lot .

So here's what I see below, your battery voltage, oil pressure, and RPM curve all look normal.

Your TPS went to 0 suddenly, and is floating all over the place when it should be locked at 100% on the throttle limiter when floored. I know you said that amazon TB can go past 90, so that's part of the problem with floating numbers. And the TPS might have failed and shorted. The TPS when floored should be a flat line, locked at 100%.

However, at the same time the MAP sensor shot down too, it did not stay up like the throttle was still open.

So, either the throttle slammed shut too, (you should know or see that mechanically), or there was an electrical issue that shut down both sensors at the same time. If it was the throttle cable it likely didn't fix itself with a power off.

Because they both flat lined, and the MAP didn't rise a little as RPM went down like normal, I'm guessing you had a short or some electrical issue. Could be in the sensor itself, or could be in the wiring to those sensors. If the Holley sensed a short it may have shut down the power to those sensors. We would have to look at the diagram to see what sensors have the same power source, and check those to confirm that.

I'd be looking at your TPS first because that has been a problem even when it is working, and the MAP sensor and wires near there.

I'd also get a better throttle body, TPS, and better cable if you can't get that one to stop solid at wide open 90 degrees. If you get adjust the stop and possibly replace the TPS with a better quality one then maybe you can make it work.

One of the odd things was the A/F on the log bounces around but never really jumps above 16 ish.
My dash had a big red box with 33.5 in in the entire time I was coasting to a stop.
So the actual Terminator, and handheld were reading 2 different things there.

The TPS not staying pegged is very possibly me like I say. The way I sit and the way my seat is, I have to physically twist my hip, and slide up on that side to get it pinned. So when I mash it, and it starts pulling hard, I have my leg fully extended, and I'm sinking backwards into the thick cushy azz seat.
I can watch the TPS reading and when I see it go down, I try and extend the toe of my shoe to compensate. I can see it go back up when I do so.
I just tend not to give much of a chit when I'm that far into it and accelerating fast lol.
I thought about building a spacer to get the pedal off the firewall and closer too me.
If I slide the seat farther forward it's uncomfortable and cramped in the arms area to the wheel.

I know I need to do some work in the pedal, cable, TB area.

I knew when I got the TB that the IAC solenoid and TPS would most likely be cheap chit. So I'm going to see about replacing the TPS at least with a GM one. Hopefully it just bolts right up.
Figure even if that's not it, it can't hurt to have a better one.
