LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
It was under this when it was a diesel.
Dude gave me a box of 9 of those filters.
I still have 7-8 of em.

May do something like that. Not sure yet.
I kept them through the last shop junk purge because I was thinking of putting it inline before my stock filter in the bobcat.
Stock filter is also the water separator, and it's $100 a pop. Thought maybe these in front would make that last longer. And Catch any slimy chit out of the stupid biodiesel everybody sells around here.

Haven't looked to even see if there's a good place for it. It's pretty tight in that engine compartment.
 
Well, I knew it would be, But the 70+ psi is correct.

They're pretty much the same as an oil filter and oil systems have higher pressures than 60 psi. I just always figured it was sketchy with a spin on oil filter looking thing running 60 psi of gas.
Gasoline is thinner than diesel, or engine oil. If in fact you do go to 1/2 id fuel lines your pressure will go down. Uping the return might help if the regulator has adequate size.
 
I'm going to stay with the 3/8 feed, 5/16 return.
 
I ran the secondary filter from my '82 6.2L diesel as a gasoline fuel filter on my carb setup for years. We run a spin on fine canister filter similar to the one you posted on our old U4 car with gas at "LS" pressures with good results too. If you're worried about it spinning loose (legit concern for sure), an easy retention method is a hose clamp around the filter holding it to a stop of some sort. We had a power steering filter spin loose one time so we actually welded a steel strap alongside the filter and put a clamp around the filter and strap so the filter could not spin. We've also clamped what is essentially a piece of angle iron to the filter so it hits something and can't spin loose. Kind of like safety wiring bolts, or at least a similar concept.
 
I was kind of more worried about gas eating the internals of it, or the rubber gasket on top breaking down.

Summit has a few nice ones with -6AN in/out that I think I'll run in this.
I also found a great and easy spot to put the spin on one in my skid loader.

Fuel filters are Fuel resistant.
They all come from the same crude oil so they all have the same characteristics.
 
See, what had me thinking was there's rubber that swells or degrades with oil contact. And rubber that doesn't.
And there's rubber hose that is ok submerged in gas, and rubber hose that is not.
Etc.
Which is why I wasn't sure.

It's not that simple, they have different grades of materials that are resistant to different fuels for a reason. They have to go through a elaborate distillation/separation process to get the different fuels out of the crude. They may come from the same source but petroleum jelly is not kerosene, as diesel fuel is not gasoline. Start adding in 10% or more ethanol like they do in gasoline then you really have an issue with material breakdown.

You may get away with it under certain circumstances but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I over simplified my answer.
But every fuel hose or rubber product I have seen shows compatible with diesel and gasoline, I did think about the ethanol after I answered but I remembered it brings moisture in the mix, diesel also brings water.
I feel confident with a fuel filter that anyway will be changed periodically no long term worries
 
I changed the fuel regulator, and filter.

Then tried swapping my map sensor from the internal to the sensor in the intake.
It didn't like that and wouldn't run.
Map sensor said ERR
Plan was to use the vac port the internal map sensor is using to run the regulator reference.

I guess I'll run non referenced for now till I figure that out.

Currently set at 60 at idle.

Don't know why my dash thing isn't showing the words for what stuff is, but here's a crude version.

And I did another 0-100 to see if it'd cut out on me, and see what the fuel pressure did.

Not sure what all I changed in this tune. Because I'm a dummy and when I was dinking around I hit SAVE in stead of SAVE AS.:doah:
I remember I was getting ready for the new trans and up grades, so I raised my shift points a little and lowered my line pressure on my trans guys recommendation.
But I don't know what else I may have played with.

I know my 0-60 was .5-.3 of a second longer than before. And my 0-100 was a full second + longer too.
Maybe the current cam doesn't have enough azz past 5800 like it used to shift at ..:dunno:

Not worried about all that really though. It's all gonna change when I put the new stuff in.


Fuel pressure was spot on though :waytogo:

Been driving this quite a bit, running gas out of it and enjoying it before I tear into it.

Gotten on it HARD a bunch of times, and it hasn't cut out on me or faltered in the least.

Guessing the whole issue had to do with that crappy Delco filter/regulator deal.

Getting antsy to get the upgrades done. And finally have the steel I need to finish and stereo install.
