LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
It's 5w30 castrol GTX with break -in additive.
Run through my old LS for its first 30 minutes.
No idea if there's silicone in any of that, but I know there was small amounts in engine assembly :dunno:

I just ask because silicone has special abilities in preventing paint from laying down (like fish-eye). Petroleum isn't as bad. Probably something like Dawn and then some alcohol will have it all fixed up. If you're worried that the oil isn't 100% cleaned, you can shoot more primer over it. If the primer lays down OK, then you're pretty much sealed off.

I decided to dig out the cheapo sand blaster, and play with it since it's been like 8 yrs lol.

Also worked on the crappy grille spot. And only broke through one spot.
I put a different adhesion promoter on over that.IMG_20260526_140316710_HDR.jpg

A clear one.

Found something I do like the denatured alcohol for... And why it leaves streaks.

It eats the top layer of the automotive primer I'm using for the body work spots.
So the few factory paint spots that got primer on them but were not sanded first, wipe right off with it. Letting me know where I need to sand still.

So that parts awesome lol.

I'm going to order some lint free rags of some kind, and another gallon or two. Then when I'm all done here, wipe it down good to verify I got it all. And I'll final wipe with the window cleaner before I tack and 2k prime the whole thing at once.

Whole passenger side is sanded, and started wiping down.

Hood is sanded, driver's door is on, and
I'll be sanding all of that side today yet.
On to the roof tonight or tomorrow.

Made the platform to do the roof sanding.
Enough space to clear the sander, and I can sit up straight and not whack my melon if I'm careful lol.

Plywood isn't attached so I can slide it around.
IMG_20260526_221227596_HDR.jpgIMG_20260526_203222939_MP.jpgIMG_20260526_203252001_MP.jpgIMG_20260526_195648997_HDR.jpg

I'm a little worried about how much I have to sand though.
The entire roof is covered in paint cracks.IMG_20260526_203511354_MP.jpgIMG_20260526_203142786_HDR.jpg

Really hope I don't have to go to metal :notworthy:

I have it pinned in with the lift in a way that it can't fall.
But yeah, clearly I could fall through it. And I remember full well what this concrete floor feels like lol.

The only part that sketches me out is climbing on and back off if it.
Actually being on it isn't bad at all.

Looked up the cracking and it appears that from m all internet search it's clear coat cracking.
So I have to at least sand all the clear off.

Guess I'm starting with 80 or 120 :doah:

I'm going to set up my exhaust fan, and open both windows at the back of the shop, kind of as a ventilation check.
But I'm still using my full face respirator and ear plugs.

Just remembered my 8' ladder is hanging up still.

I think that will be my way up and down lol.

Hit post too soon lol.
Sealed some stuff upIMG_20260527_143021871_HDR.jpgIMG_20260527_152705937_MP.jpg

Then removed both panels of the window so it had full screen.IMG_20260527_184316158_HDR.jpg

And opened the top of the other window, since my fiberglassing booth blocks part of the bottom, and keeps me from removing the bars.IMG_20260527_184323930_HDR.jpg

And.....
The controversial part of today's decisions.

Booth is done dude...:waytogo::rolleyes:IMG_20260527_191422119_HDR.jpg

Seriously, that's all I'm doing.

I'm going to put the fan back in the door tomorrow.
Sweep all the floor.
Then air wand the ceiling, all flat surfaces, etc. Let all that chit blow out. ( Fan seriously moves air:yikes:)
Then I'll do a bunch more sweeping... And air wand again.

After the roof is sanded anyway.

I sat around for quite a while today, watching towards the lights and around the room.
After the fan ran an HR or so, I seen NOTHING in the air anywhere.:dunno:

When I was sanding the roof, all the dust went straight sideways, and out the fan.

I'm not looking for a Ridler build, so I'm gonna go with it.
By doing so, there's a good chance I can paint this weekend or Monday.

I’m painting my stuff on cardboard in the driveway and in the garage… but mine are spray cans so there is that.

I've seen quite a few decent jobs just done in a garage with a box fan and the door wide open.

It'll be fine I'm sure lol.

Whole fuggin shop is already covered in so much dust, ain't no paint gonna stick to SH*T. Lol.
And if it did you would notice :haha:

So.
Too late to sand the roof tonight.
That's tomorrows job.

But, that's all that's left to make it ready :thumb:
Once that's done I can move it into final Position, and start the final once over with 400 on every panel.
Then mask the tires, clean it all, and plan a day for spraying.:woot:
If I get it sprayed by Monday, I can put plastics on and such Wednesday/Thursday.
Then have a few days to shake down drive it.
Saturday I'm going to try and get some gun practice with the actual paint.
May make it for PT yet.

Wether I'll actually pay for the whole thing and join the events is another story.
May just follow along joining the group on the travel portion, and do our own thing in each town. Meet back up for a few at the hotels... By this point I'm going to have to get a hotel 45 minutes away from each town anyway probably :haha:
Probably done single day event somewhere.
Kaz and Chrissie aren't going to stay happy doing the actual events every day. Just not their thing more than a day or so.:dunno:

Fingers crossed.

Forgot to mention....
The new FAST BIG mouth throttle body DEFINITELY helped the idle/ gear change issue.
It has yet to die when I've moved it around here lately.:waytogo:
Even a quick throttle blip, which is also WAY more responsive, doesn't kill it like it used to sometimes.

Fock....
I just noticed it's going to be 83-85 degrees this weekend/Monday...
All I bought was fast and medium reducer cause I thought it'd be done sooner. During cooler weather.
All the ship it places online say Monday or Tuesday.....
So I'll be on the hunt locally for some slow tomorrow.
I'd guess Sherwin Williams will probably have it.
