Welp- Got the buckets mostly put in! Went to The Shop here in Lincoln on Saturday where John frequents, and threw the suckers in. Also met Red, can't remember his real name but he's a pretty hilarious dude.
We only had a few hours to blow by the time I arrived with my truck, so I couldn't get the rear inner holes drilled, or the holes for the console, but Johnny booger welded my brackets to the floor for me since I'm too pretty to work a welder, (sort of an inside joke, John always sees me at school and says I look pretty since I dress decent) so I have 6 out of 8 bolts in the floor. I'm planning on using beefy nutserts for the last set of holes, and probably the console too.
The seats ended up pretty straight backed, so on Sunday I fixed them up with some one inch spacers between the seat itself, and the front portion of the rails. Now they're nice and relaxed, right up against the back window. There was like 2.5 inches of room before, and it was awful.
Like John, I kind of suck at taking pics, but I'll try to get some posted so you all can be jealous of my sweet new buckets.
Materials used: buckets and console from K5 blazer, seat tracks and "A" bracket welded to floor of suburban.
The brackets can be chiseled out if you're in a salvage yard, but be careful... the Burb fought me for them, and I ended up catching a flying chisel to the face. Cut my chin, my lip in two spots, sliced my lower gum open, and nearly lost teeth. Luckily there was still some snow on the ground that I could pack in like a dip to control the bleeding.
I got a little beat up, but you shoulda seen the other guy
