If you had gas in a open 5 gallon bucket, for over 20 min in any room or enclosed space it will definitely smell for a few days id open the door for a few hours if you can and air it out...
Not really. The only issue I have with gas fumes is my dune buggy. I think because its a carb. I pull it back into the garage hot and the bowl vent lets some fumes loose. The smell doesn't last more than a day and its not super bad. The jeeps have never been and issue. No skid plate to trap fuel when it leaked. I would think the bucket of gas or the fuel spilled on the skid plate is causing most of your issue. Pull it outside and let it sit in the sun next time it warms up a bit. I had a VW rabbit that would have gas fumes inside and it turned out to be a leak in the emissions vapor lines up in a wheel well. The fumes were kind of trapped in the wheel well and were getting inside. Replaced some lines and it was ok after. Gas smell is a tough one. It usually hangs around for a while even after it has dried out.I've got both squares in the garage now. I am thankful that they're off the street. My Mitsubishi is low to the ground and has a steering wheel lock on it, so I feel best about that one being on the street. I don't keep anything in it so I'd be surprised if someone broke into it... and they're sure as hell not crawling beneath it.
When I walk into the garage these days, I'm getting blasted with gas fumes. I took the 'ol Home Depot bucket out of the garage because it still had a little tiny bit of gas in it... but that was days ago. The gas fumes are still strong. I'm not sure if it is from the skid plate (because it was soaked with gallons and gallons of gas) or if my putty seal is allowing fumes to escape. The fumes are definitely coming from the Blazer though, somewhere. Also, when the gas pump kicks off, my gauge shows just a little over 3/4 full. It used to work fine, so I have no reason to think it isn't accurate.
@HankScorpio can you smell gas when you get into your Jeep after driving it somewhere?
The behavior at the gas pump makes me think that the tank is super pressurized with fumes or something like that... but I don't know what the hell I'm talking about or if that's even possible.
40gal suburban option only .I think rockauto has a 40 gl on clearance/ close out for @ $90.00.
Is not for a tbi iirc, but could be made to work.
I was tempted to buy it just in case.
You should lock and see if there is 1 for your truck.
No way a 40gal will fit in a k5. Way too big.I think rockauto has a 40 gl on clearance/ close out for @ $90.00.

I’m sure the first time the suspension cycles up it would dent the tank enough to make room for it. That is hoping it won’t split the tank. Lol.I'll make it fit

Possibly big boom stop if the tank splits!Big bump stops
My k5 had the 25gal tank and there was a big gap between the tank and skid plate.I remember a photo, someone here. The photo showed a blazer tank with a skid plate, there was at least 2" clearance between the bottom of the tank and the top of the skid plate. I forget what size tank it was. 25 or 31.

Time to start shooting these fockers...And you can NOT fix lots of newer plastic tanks as there 2 layer . Like a blader inside the tank . This crap will cost owners so much money it is crazy . I happen to pop one years ago on a car i was fixing and a used 1 was north of 600.00 delivered and new was just under 1k order in at dealer only .
