So I've been looking at lift kits and was wondering about the rear. I don't like the idea of blocks but don't know aboutique the shackle flip. Would I need to weld them on and how do I know the proper place to pilot them so nothing binds up!

No welding, the shackle flip bolts in where the rivets for the old hanger used to be, so you really can't get it wrong. Have to drop the gas tank though, which isn't fun.

You don't necessarily have to drop the tank to get the shackle flip done. But it makes it a lot easier.
Also if you don't have a torch handy, grinder and air hammer can make quick work of the rivets.
Yeah!! I'm just starting my own tool collection so I don't have any of those yet. Is there any decent torches for a reasonable price.
Don't know. I got my old victor setup from an old job. I just need to get new bottles next time I need it. Craigslist is a great place to watch for compressors and air tools. Every now and then you see a shop go out of business or some guy will die/retire and sell off all his shit cheap to get it outta the way.
Yeah it would be nice to score some shots like that. Man I'm down to just a small craftsman 200 piece tool set.

Just so you know, my buddy built this with the same 200pc set, a grinder, and a welder...
That plus a grinder is all I had when I built my K10. And that's pretty close to what I have now. Hope to add some more fun stuff at some point, but that's plenty good enough to get a bunch done. Add a cheap welder and you can do just about anything you want.
Yeah it can be done! I've been rebuilding a 1970 mustang with the same set its just the fact that I always want more and it gets me in a lot of trouble. As I blow my budget

Alright guys I bought a 96 suburban 2500 with a 5.7. I replaced the starter but it makes a loud screech/grinding sound and I tried to shim it and it still makes the nosie. Any help would be nice.

BTW big fan of building with less. More tools makes it easier or quicker. Very occasionally cheaper.
But if you own just a touch more than a basic tool set, a grinder, a drill and a welder. Build away you can do just about anything with those

I'm just a moron, so I make bad choices while building.
I do that pretty often aswell I made a bad decision the other day and broke off a piece of the starter mount on the suburban I just bought.
