NV4500 Swap

Are the different-length rods going to different spots on the firewall? I'm having a hard time picturing why they're different (and wondering if it's gonna come back to bite me-I have hydroboost brakes and a set of vacuum pedals).

I'm sure it just has to do with where the rods bolt to the pedal assembly, plus the offset bolt pattern on the master would require different lengths even if the rods were bolted on the same plane on the pedal assembly.

It has nothing to do with hydroboost brakes, it is for hydro clutch. Both rods go between the firewall where the clutch master bolts on (note studs on one end) back to the pedal assembly.

That is what I feared. Who has these to sell?

Of all crazy things, I may end up in the same boat. I went to my parts pile and found one of mine missing as well (along with the nuts & hardware pieces. They're probably all sitting together nicely somewhere, but if not I'll be looking for one too. :doah:

I could send you these if you wanted to try and duplicate it, and then send them back.

Martin

That would be awesome! Let me confirm that the seller does not have it and that I have someone here that will help me make a copy. If I do need one to copy , I will send you a PM with my info in the next day or so.

I got the th400 pulled today and I think I may have an issue. It appears that the output shaft on my used nv4500 is going to be to short. It is much shorter than my th400. Do I have any good options?

Pull the adaptor off the T-case and it should bolt right up.

Yeah, if you look at the picture of your transfer case, it still has the adapter bolted to it. The NV4500 has an integral adapter/5th gear housing, so you don't need that piece of cast iron.

What is best way to clean the transmission and tcase? Can I use wire wheel on a drill? Should I paint them? I have heard yes and no on paint (paint holds heat?)

Paint usually falls off when I put it on thinks like that. I don't waste my time with it anymore.

I would just be scraping off the heavy stuff and bolting it together.

I also drive my truck through a bunch of mud and crap all the time. Spending time obsessively cleaning isn't worth it.
