Yeah its flat tappet, I'm going to be using whatever high zinc oil I can get. First start up and break in was 5w30 with some high zinc additive
Thank you, few of my buddies knocked it for looking cheap but it actually works really wellI like the intake.
It depends on how you want to remove it. The upper flange is spot welded to make up the windshield opening flange. You can cut just below the glass and leave that in place. Can this metal part behind the dash be removed without removing the windshield?

Some kits just use front calipers off of a 10bolt or D44, but that eliminates your park brake ability. The ones using Eldorado calipers will retain the park brake as the cable cranks out the piston mechanically for the park brake and the piston still pushes out under hydraulic pressure when the brake pedal is applied. The issue is the Eldo calipers are known for having the piston hang up after using the park brake. Do a little google-fu about the Eldo calipers to find more of what I'm talking about.hey got a question for anyone who still looks at this build, has anyone found a decent disk brake swap for the 10 bolt rear end on their K5? I been looking around and im at a loss right now, everything I see says to build your own using an the calipers off an old Cadillac that came with all around disk brakes. Any info would be awesome thank you!
thank you ill have to look into that, im honestly not too concerned about a parking brake I know its not great for the little arm in the transmission but I almost never park on any inclines so im thinking its not a top priority. Some kits just use front calipers off of a 10bolt or D44, but that eliminates your park brake ability. ill check them out now, I don't believe ive seen anything from TSM so ill have to go digging again. Thank you for the reply!Did you look to see if TSM has a kit anymore? I got one from him years ago for my 12 bolt. I used the Caddy calipers which have been fine, but the park brake performance is not grand, just ok.
Well if they do, they were very expensive.ill check them out now, I don't believe ive seen anything from TSM so ill have to go digging again. Thank you for the reply!
A newer axle won't bolt in like a disc conversion. Then there's gears, wheel stud size, maybe the U-joint on top of the axle price and spring pad relocation. I don't remember my disc brackets being terribly expensive years ago.Well if they do, they were very expensive.
More than getting a complete newer axle with disc brakes

yeah your about right for the prices, and id rather just modify the rear end I have as opposed to a random axle I don't know anything about and chance needed to re-gear my front end. Thanks for mentioning TSM much appreciated, im placing my order this week some time, I gotta have the wife do some measuring to see if ill be able to fit the rotors inside the 15s I have on the truck now. (im currently deployed so im stuck on a ship trying to make the best of my time haha)I just looked. The kit prices have most likely gone up, just like everything else, compared to when I bought mine. But the website has a price of $610 with a park brake caliper, just over $400 without park brake calipers.
Looks like a complete kit. Not $800. But a newer axle could be more than that depending on several factors. We don't know what @nmxhustla has available in his region.
When I had the tsm brakes they fit in 15" wheels.yeah your about right for the prices, and id rather just modify the rear end I have as opposed to a random axle I don't know anything about and chance needed to re-gear my front end.
