Old Iron 2.0

It'll serve you well for sure

Hopefully, I'm definitely looking forward to the new technology and fuel injection.

Gonna take time and money to get it done but it should be pretty nasty once it's all wrapped up. I think it'll be pretty cool with a 4 speed behind it.

Really appreciated having injection on a square body, but that LS power will be awesome

So, I'm gonna start a new build thread due to everything going in a totally opposite direction and this thread will be pretty irrelevant.

I'll post the link for the new thread in here for those who are interested in watching it and leave it up for a little while before I PM a mod and have the other one (and my other 2 old ones) deleted.

Got the 6.0. Gonna clean it up, go through it and replace all the gaskets/seals, throw a cam/spring and double roller timing chain in and I think thats about it.

Should have the 6.0 tore down to long block and on the engine stand tomorrow morningish. Then I'm gonna bust out the simple green, bristle brush, scotch pads and water hose and get some of the parts cleaned up.

Have a cam picked already?
Not yet, I wanna go with a company called Texas Speed Performance, I'm gonna give them a call and see what their recommendation is, I'm not trying to put anything too radical in there, just a little more umph than stock.

Fixed it for ya...

Here's all the stuff that came off. I set the intake back on to conserve space.

The engine looks pretty big compared to a Gen 1 small block... maybe it's just the huge intake.

I think I'm gonna bring the valve covers to work tomorrow and see if the solvent tabk will get that crud out of the inside of the valve covers.

Looking forward to seeing the end result
Me too brother. I'm gonna look for a place locally that has can hot tank my parts for me, I'd spend days upon days trying to clean those heads with the stuff I have.

Figured I'd pull everything I need cleaned and take it all down at the same time.

Should have some parts coming in once all that happens to make things interesting.

So... been doing a lot of reading on the 6.0, cams etc.

Seems like you miss out on a lot of potential power if you do a cam swap and don't have a nice set of heads to go with it... I feel like my money will be better spent on other areas of the truck rather than having my heads CNC ported or buying aftermarket heads so for now I'll be passing on a cam swap.

Saves a few bucks, let's me get other stuff done and I don't have to feel bad knowing that I'm missing out on something. Maybe on the next engine!

An extra 40-50 hp can be had by just sending your ecu to a good tuner. My buddy has a stock 6.0 in his YJ with only a tune. He can power brake the locked 14/60 with 5.13's and 42's, and crank the steering wheel, the inside front tire will pick up off the ground about a foot, simply by loading the chassis. 6.0 will make plenty of power without the extra hardparts.

I plan on working with @Team208Motorsports on the tuning part and probably running a logger like Merrick did on his and swapping info & tunes back and forth to get the perfect setup.

I decided I'm gonna try to make the stock manifolds work instead of getting the Schoenfeld headers. My manifolds are 100% intact, they need to be blasted and painted but other than that they're good.

Found out a double roller chain won't fit without some mods... supposedly have to use a different oil pump and possible clearance issues with the timing cover. Planning on getting a single roller, new gaskets and hot washing the heads and some other pieces then throwing it all back together.

Can you have a water pump hot washed or will it mess the guts up?
