One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

Plan A is to reseal my engine and otherwise leave it alone (22:1). Supposedly my turbine is small enough to not cause any worries on a stock engine, but we'll see what we actually get.
You'll be well within the margins using the DB2 that came on the CUCV engine. It tops out at 60ccs I think. As prep, consider getting your radiator hot tanked so you have all 4 rows working at their peak efficiency.

Totally agree. An HE35 might even be called overkill. My local distributor says they have the detailed maps needed and just need the serial number.

you can get those maps or a pic of them that's like gold I guess..
the HE from what I gather is like a hybrid setup with an hx35 hot side and the hx40 compressor?? I'm not sure how true that is but I know they are still efficient way past 20psi

Well...the burb hasn't had a proper fan for quite a while. And a couple of rows are brazed shut due to leakage.

But my cooling requirements have been much, much lower than yours. ;)
 
A he35 with that small exhaust housing should work extremely well on your burb. Since you said you don't have head stubs I'd keep boost to around 15. Any more then that is pushing your luck on stock head bolts.

I agree with your thinking on boost limits. As much as I want to stud the engine, that upgrade will wait until I'm farther along with the Charger.

Not far off. When it's hot like it was today, it's tack, tack...drip.
Having overheating issues that you're putting the louvers in?

Looks cool though.
It's just an upgrade that makes sense in our 100F+ climate - allow the high pressure area under the hood to vent. I'm curious to see if I narrow my band of operating temps. Zero overheating on the long passes in Colorado and New Mexico. Dual pass and the intercooler are working nicely.

are you able to spray the hood so it's close enough to the rest of the truck?
