One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

Building back the interior, and just had to pause to appreciate a memento from my first project - new carpet when I was 14.

Rain shut me down early, but it's almost back together. I blame my delay on Dynamat aluminum foil tape, which is crap.

I ended up using the Nashua 2mil extreme weather tape from Home Depot, which was substantially tackier. Perhaps the Dynamat adhesive team took the day off?

I actually washed the truck carpets in the washing machine. While moderately effective at cleaning the 20+ year dirt, it was most effective at getting the hard eye roll from the wife.

Hitting it again tomorrow. Need a couple of days of driving locally before heading south to Katemcy.

a little late for this suggestion now, but for the record, the RV roofing tape is supersticky...like get it right the first time because there is no second chance!
I think its the same stuff that "flexseal" is selling now too.

What's that a Detroit plaque from?
Promotional item from Detroit Diesel. I requested some stuff back in the day, and got this and a few other bits.

Great suggestion! If new tape is needed when I replace the carpet, I'll be sure to remember.

Back together and did a nice long test drive. Results: vastly improved, far easier to talk or listen, and there's still room to improve. This is great for now.

45mph cruise on new concrete:

Door seals are next since theres a lot of ambient road noise.

I think that is on the threshold for needing ear protection for long term exposure (8hrs)
