You have to have something between the rack and the roof or else you are asking for trouble.
Where the rack mounts to the roof... if there is not rubbor or anything inbetween them.... it will rub and wear away the paint, then metal on metal, then rust, etc. See what I am trying to say?smokkey1 said:there’s an gap, about an 1 1/2" between the roof and rack. OK I see what your saying now. I never thought of that. And if you wheel it hard... body flex will make this happen even faster.
