Project “Bad Grampa”

1991 C
replace it with anything in particular?
They gave me options... the expensive one was yellow and would have given me an easy 500hp but I went with the $29.00 oreally’s one step up from the bottom coil. But I definitely did pick up some power for sure. The old coil was definitely causing some power issues. Hopefully I’ll pick up some MPGs too. 10-11 mpg sucks.

Man I’d think. Mine gets better than 11 with 37s and 4.10s

It might be barely ok if 44's weighed similar to a 33-35, but they don't...

Truck crapped out on my way home tonight. Was really hard to start but when it fired up it ran good for about 3 miles. Then I got really good mileage getting hauled back to the shop on the rollback. :surepal:

Tinkered with it for a little bit and found the same no spark issue but the coil still tested good. Everything checked out until I tested the pickup coil... it is supposed to fluctuate between .3 and 1.8 volts AC but never went higher than .7 volts. I also found a lot of rust on the terminals where the pickup plugs into the ICM. After I found that I figured it was best just to take @Justin V advice and get a whole new dizzy. It’s $160 and some change but I can get it pretty cheap through the shop. So before I go that direction does anyone have any other ideas on what it might be? I think other than the possibility of the computer being bad it pretty much has to be the pickup and/or the ICM?

I changed every single component in the electrical side of my burbs TBI. Having the same symptoms.... Never fixed it. Ended up going carb :doah:

I hope you have way better luck than me.

I’m pretty sure it’s the pickup under the rotor. It’s putting out less than half of what it should be so that alone won’t let it fire the coil or injectors. I’m thinking of it turns into a carb swap I’ll go with another fitech system and some goodies inside the motor. Nothing crazy but something a little more desirable than a stock gm tbi. Lol

Stuff on that's all the same as an 88 square body right?
