Lol, always a good idea.
I was watching some videos of a square with an 8.1 and a remote turbo setup that really got me thinking. It wasn’t a hack job by any means but it was redneck all the way and it screamed! I’m working on getting my hands on a wrecked suburban with an 8.1 and depending on how it goes...
An LS would be sweet because of the weight difference compared to a BB but they’re hard to come by around here. One downfall with the suburban is it has an Allison and it’s 4WD. It would be cool to have a 5 speed auto but that would mean I’d have to modify the cab. Don’t know what a used one is worth but maybe it would pay for a 4L80? Idk... this is all just dreaming right now. Lol but they’re fun dreams!
I checked for vacuum leaks (definitely could dig a little deeper) and didn’t find anything obvious. When I’m in drive the RPMs come up to what I would say is around 1100rpm but when I stop and put it back in park they go back down to normal. I thought it might be my brake booster but hitting the brakes doesn’t effect it. While sitting in park idling the rpms are up and down pretty erratically. So scratch the “in drive” theory. One thing I’ve been wondering about is the thermostat. I put a 185ish degree thermostat in it and then it clicked that these usually run over 200*. Would that be causing it to do this?Sounds like maybe a vacuum leak. Or a map sensor issue.
But you know you need to see what the code it.
Kind of wondering bout that too! LolO2 sensors?
Ok I’ll check it. Key on pump the gas three times? My 91 Camaro worked like tgatIt should at least store it.
