Project 82 TCBF -10.13.9 - progress!!!

You know you're an addict when you're surfing ck5 from your iPhone while laying on your back underneath a truck you're trying to build :o

I just mounted the fuel pump, now I'm just playing with where I want the fuel cell to be mounted. Would of had more done, but it's seems my grandmother always has someplace to go when I'm trying to get chit done

Well off to the parts store to pick up some sealant and fuel hose clamps!

:mad:  and then there was rain!:mad::mad:

But, a somewhat succesfull day, none the less! Fuel cell mounted to bed. Fuel pump mounted to frame. Fuel pump wired up, even routed it through the loom of the existing wiring that goes to the rear of the truck, which was a PITA. Fuel pressure regulator installed, 6 gallons of gas in the tank. No leaks at the tank or pump! :D couple pics as soon as i send them to my email from my phone...

I mounted my gauges yesterday, just need to finish wiring them up. I also picked up a present for my truck last night. Thanks again TomFord!

Thanks to my two best buds, after finding how badly I did at installing the distributor, as well as tightening various things so they don't leak  the sumbeyotch made a bunch of noise in my driveway today!!!!! :D :D

I will say this, it definitely feels like it's taken a huge weight off my shoulders :o

How bad did you do with the distributor? Inquiring minds want to know.

And congrats on getting her running, time to get her out on the road.

It was weird becase I could have sworn I had it at TDC on the number one cylinder. Somehow the motor got turned over before I installed the dizzy because it ended up 180* out  so Randy (aychdee) pulled it out, showed me a few neat tricks and stuck it back in, and we managed to get it started! :D

When I responded timing/firing order today, that counted as distributor too right?:D

Congrats on getting it running!

In nearly ever instance where I have dropped a dizzy, I end up 180 out. First crank and it backfires and I pull the dizzy and rotate it. I know there are ways, especially on a new motor to ensure it is right, but I am lazy.

The distributor turns with the cam, which is half the RPM of the crank. So you not only need to be at TDC for #1 (or whatever cylinder you want to point the rotor at), but you also need to be on the compression stroke for that cylinder. To do that, remove that spark plug and place your thumb over the hole. (or you can install the compression gauge) Tap the engine over with the starter a little at a time until you feel the pressure push past your thumb (or see the compression rise), then rotate it slightly further until you are at (or slightly before) TDC. Then point the rotor just before that cylinder wire when you put the distributor in. If you want to get it even closer you can hook a timing light up and rotate the ditributor with the engine sitting before TDC until it sparks.

Thanks! These are the tips aychdee showed yesterday, I'm learning more and more everyday!

The truck now has alot cleaner cab (spent an hour throwing junk away, putting away various tools/parts that were stuffed in there) a working fan, as well as rear turn/tail lights. Took an hour or so to find out why they weren't working at first, ended up tearing the column wiring down only to find out all was well. Ended up being that neither light was grounded :o so, ran jumpers from each light to the frame, and voila!
Also got my bumper painted and ready to install :D
