Project Camo Reaper - Brake lines made - post #144

Bought one of Kert's steering box caps and tapped cover from Munepit. I can't leave well enough alone so I had to pretty it up a bit :pimp:
It's a lot more polished looking in person

Woohoo..My renter/buyer decided he wanted to stay in the house..after he got served with eviction papers
Sent me a couple big fat money orders today with more to come next week. Now I can order my ram assist cylinder, hoses, reservoir, and those expensive ass shock that I absolutely must have :doah:
Still need to do some fuel injection too. ..well, I had money

Have someone that wants my 10 bolt axles so I got busy and had them out in about 2 hours using my cherry picker and some jack stands. Got the 14b under there temporarily. I still have to weld in the spring perches but have to figure the driveshaft angle first. So for now it in sitting on the perches unwelded, slightly snugged up. The front 10b is out with the exception of the tierod bolt. It came most of the way off the bolt then started spinning. It will sit for another day before I can get to it. Today is work then straight to school for 4 hours.
After I get the 10b gone, I will swap in the new custom ORD/Alcan springs beofre the D60 goes in. The rear still have to get the shackle flip installed. I'll drop the gas tank and get it out of the way before I start grinding rivets and welding on the rear spring perches

Got a little done today. Changed kingpin bushings and decided I want to order some 35 spline stub shafts and hubs before I put the D60 in. Also took out the old rough country lift springs and put in the custom ones from ORD.

Tomorrow will be hit or miss as I will have my little girl (3). If I can keep her occupied I'd like to weld in the steering box brace and get the bolt in brace installed.

Oh boy...the project just took an unexpected but welcome turn. Stay tuned for the changes and some goodie parts for sale!

No, he will still have the trans, doubler & engine. We aren't doing the deal until he gets back from AZ

The project will be a hybrid between my reaper idea and a Bad Dog. Members that have been here for a while might know what I'm talking about

Ok, so I bought the truggy with initial thoughts of converting the Jimmy with the linked suspension..that was a dumb idea so I'm building both now :doah:
After I bought the truggy I put my other 1 ton axles up for sale, then they weren't for sale.
Today I got busy putting them under the Jimmy. The D60 rolled into place under the custom ORD springs. Couldn't completely bolt it in due to my old spring pack had 3 springs and this custom set has 10. The 2 bolts that hold the pass side spring plate in weren't long enough...dammit. Called the hardware store and everything was closed today...dammit

Moved to the rear axle
The 14b was basically just sitting under the springs. Took the springs plates off and rolled it out of the way. installed the Zero Rate to move the axle back 1".
Dropped the skid plate and gas tank to remove the stock shackle hangers. A little cutoff wheel action combined with some air chisel and the hangers were out of the way. Hit the frame with a flap wheel to get the little rust off that was under the stock hanger. A little rust inhibitor and some black paint Installed the 2.5" ORD shackle flip and that where the day ended. I need to buy new bolts for the shackle hangers too

Big R all the way.

Will be cool to get this K5 done with the things it needs then hop on the next one.
I'm still excited how the truggy will look.

Front springs are now bolted and torqued down at the shackles and U-bolt plates
Front driveshaft is in but not until after I had to pick up needle bearings from one of the u-bolt caps. Cleaned out the cap and rollers bearings. I need bigger u-joints because my finger don't fit inside these 1310 caps :D

Got the shackle flips installed on the rear. One side is all together but the other side the bolt was stuck in the shackle hanger. Like froze to the bushing sleeve.
Going to order some greasable bushings from ORD..like I should have done to begin with
