Project MULE - Expedition build on a 1991 1500 4x4 Suburban

Well that was an exercise in futility:angry1:

I loctite and tighten the 4 bolts that were in fact loose! I reassembled it and its still loos int he exact same way. I think its in the tilt ball joint its self maybe.

well hell, that sucks!

guess I got lucky with mine...I put it off until the ignition cut off whenever I hit a bump...

I already have both uprights done and the mounting surface for the winch. All parts of the center section will be 1/4" or 3/16" the regular bumper parts on the outsides will be 3/16"

If I am lucky this may be a DIY kit for others. Stay tuned:popcorn:

I agree maybe shorten the height on the front piece. I'm trying to remember what these look like off the top of my head. Is that styrofoam sheeting your using?

So just my own personal opinion is to make the outer front sections about 3/4" taller and the center section about an inch shorter. But, either way, once its in steel it will look realy good!

Please explain if you can. If you need to please grab one of those pics and edit it to show new lines. I am up to different ideas right now.

Wait, are you saying raise the out bumper sections up 3/4" and lower the flat the winch sits on by 1"?

Something in this neighborhood. I would leave the bottom where it is and just add height up to the red lines on the outers and down to the red line in the center.

Ok, i see what your talking about. On the center line. If I lower lie that then the upper section of the fairlead will sit above that line and look a little odd. I may try that though.

As for the outers being raised. I may see about 1/4" higher but I need to leave room for the body. Keep in minf this is not jsut for me, this may see production which means I need to leave play room for others. You may have collapsed front body bushing and then the bumper would crash into the body and not install correctly.

I actually need to start all over anyhow because a Warn M15000 will not fit. I need to bring it out 1".

Whole new bumper

Uprights raised 1"
added mid upright cross support
Extend winch mount forward 1" to accept M15000 winch
Side bumpers raised 1/4" higher
lowered fairlead mount and tapered
Headlight grill guards will be 1.5" tubing

Ah i see the problem with not being able to make the fairlead mount lower. Your planning on making the top plae the winch mount arent you? I was assuming the winch would mount on a plate thats in line with the lower edge of the bumper. Like a normal warn style setup.
