Swapping from auto hubs to manuals. In the process I found the pass side wheel bearings a bit loose. Will pop that outer bearing out quick and inspect it. If it looks burned at all its time for new bearings all around!

Looking good! what kind of cooler did you opt for, will you be running it in series with the radiator cooler?

I am using a Tru-Cool HD tranny cooler. I have used these before and are great. Its a full radiator design and not just tube fin style.

I plan to run it dedicated and have a aux fan on it. I also will have a temp gauge to monitor. this is pretty much an exact copy of what I had in my Jeep.

The only thing I may change is adding a bypass valve in-line. Since the cooler will be dedicated and in cold weather the tranny may never get to running temp. What bypass valve does is by passes the cooler completely until it gets to temp then it opens up to use the cooler.

Excellent cooler, nice choice. If it were mine I would run through the radiator as well to take advantage of the extra cooling offered and doing so may keep you from having to run the extra wiring, relay and fan for the aux. cooler. I don't think it will take long to get the trans up to temp even in the coldest weather, they warm up pretty quick.

I had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the tranny in my Cherokee to warm up becuase I didnt have a bypass valve in there.

Also, if you have a larger enough cooler it will work better as a stand alone then running in series. Remember, anything ran thru the stock radiator will be warmed up or cooled off to roughly 200*

The cooler i have pick out is like 28K GVW that will be plenty cool for a 8K vehicle. As for the fan and cooling When your fighten' mud or up on rocks and working that tranny you are also working the motor so its going to do nothing but go up in temp. At least with the Aux tranny fan I will wire it with a temp sensor and a full bypass for constant on.

I am also working on changing over to full electric fans anyways to free up some horses and be able to shut them off during a water crossing.

If you had a regular cooler for your GVW then yes I would run in series but thats my opinion.

That's "Cool" you know better than anyone how you intend to use it and the conditions it will be subjected to:waytogo:

looks worse than it is...if I can do it I know you can...:waytogo:

Doing a write up for that too?!? I hope so!

Sorry, There is already a write up for this which I am actually using. I think his is from an 82 and didn't have the fully loaded turn signal switch like mine does but close enough. What I may do is amend his write up for the later models.

Well that was an exercise in futility:angry1:

I loctite and tighten the 4 bolts that were in fact loose! I reassembled it and its still loos int he exact same way. I think its in the tilt ball joint its self maybe.

Oil change, T-case fluid change and front diff gear oil changed. Next weekend is rear diff and verify I have a posi and not a gov loc.

Up for this week. I am going to start planning to build a custom center console. This will go from the back side of the front seats in the most rearward position all the way to the front under the dash full width.

it will do, house or hold the following
Keep the lockable storage area
spot for 2 drinks
Tachometer
Tranny temp gauge
Vacuum gauge
2 spots reserved for future gauges
Cobra 29LTD BT CB Radio
Yaesu FT7900 Dual band HAM radio
1 dual flush mount USB ports
2 flush mount 12v adapter plug-ins
10 Contura Rocker switches.
2 external mini speakers for the communications radios
It will also cover the power supply for the Laptop and will have 1000w power inverter.
