I know it has been a long time since I updated this, but I finally got my rear bumper from TAG the other day...
To tell the truth, I am actually quite pleased with it! The swing out carrier needs a few mods (sent me one with a 6 bolt pattern carrier and a single gas can carrier on it instead of the 8 bolt and dual gas can I ordered, doh!) but I really like the bearing assembly for the swing, latching assembly and over all fit and finish of the bumper. The install was a HUGE PITA due to some very tight clearances for installing the bolts in the brackets. Took me quite a few hours to get it in... Either way, it looks good, and while it was a bit late, I am happy with the purchase.
I still have plans to get hydro assist on the truck, and definitely need to do some work on the pinion angles to fix some driveline vibes. I also need to work on the front end a bit... The camber, castor and toe are all outta whack and cause the truck to handle a bit odd. It is driveable, but can be much better with a bit of work. I found that most of the bump steer is caused by the front axle moving around. I am going to install a track bar to keep the axle centered.
For the rear, I have decided to install a triangulated 4 link to replace the leaf springs. I'll get started on that in a few months.
I took the Tahoe out wheeling the other weekend but only got about 10 minutes into the run when my heater core let go. That was not a fun thing to replace! Have to take the whole dash out to get the HVAC stuff out just to get at three little screws along the back side of the cover. I did not re-install those screws on re-assembly. Next time the heater core will only take an hour or two to change instead of most of the day.
I'll get some pictures for you guys tomorrow when I have it out next
