OK, got all the industrial glue off the right kickpanel used to hold up a 0.01 oz piece of felt the previous owner installed. It looked like rust but was just brown glue. Used a wire wheel then painted it with color match paint from automotivetouchup.com
Also, removed the vent door and cleaned it up and reinstalled. After a few days break on to the drivers side.

Man, removing yet more spray paint really sucks... even the new drivers door I pickup last year that is matching original dark blue has non-matching dark blue painted over some scratches, it's coming off but what a pain in the ass!

What’s the plan to fix that? Are you going to put a backer in there and fill it with small plates and weld it or?? Sorry I’m noooob on body work..

Me too, I will talk it over with my metal guy as he is the one that will repair it. I will take a pic of the PO's attempt to repair the old wheel tub by simply welding a piece of metal over a rust hole in the wheel tub. lol

Fired up the Blazer for the first time this year, I swear the 700R4 only has 1st and 4th gear. Any ideas?

Try the TV cable. if it's way loose the shifts will be so fast and soft it could feel like only having first and fourth. My 90 was like that when I got it.

I second the tv cable being out of adjustment. Or fluid low. But if it hasn’t been running and no leaks it really couldn’t be that, unless the seal between the trans and transfer case is bad. Then you got extra atf in the transfer case and should come out when you pull the fill plug.

No leaks and fluid level is fine, will look at the TV cable. What is the best way to adjust the TV cable?

There's a metal button on the cable just behind the bracket, hold that in and slide the cable sleeve all the way in. Then get in the truck and push the pedal to the floor. The cable sleeve will pop out as much as it needs to be adjusted properly.

I do this and there are some times where it likes one more or one less click. Some of these are spring loaded so you just have to raise the stop clip, it is C shaped and a flat screwdriver should do the trick to lift it up.

Some people like to adjust the cable afterwards to firm up the shifts, but those 700's are so sensitive to the TV cable I hate messing with them too much.

I'm that guy. I don't go full throttle much if ever so I just shove it all the way in and then let it self adjust to my driving style so it usually only comes out a little and stays with a firmer shift.
