Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
Yep seems I had to lower mine to get the bezel to come out, should just be 2 bolts
Yep, what he said. There’s a clamp holding the column up. If you loosen the bolts to drip that clamp, the column will lower enough to remove the bezel.

Pull the lower trim piece under the column, so 2 screws, then 2 bolts.
Just loosening the bolts should get it.

Now going to attempt to drill out the hole for the throttle cable with out messing up the new bezel.

Yeah, so stupid that you have to lower the column, but yeah, no other way to do it.

Does anyone else's dash pad raise up on the left side like mine? Is there a trick to getting it to lay flat?

Is that end stud into the dash at an angle?

Could you possibly put a shim up above the stud to try and kick the pad downward as the nut is tightened up?

Not sure as I haven't messed with it yet... when I get some time I will maybe take the whole thing off and evaluate.

It looks like the foam might be disintegrating. IIRC there is a metal insert for the mounting studs that the foam is bonded to which are then upholstered. In your case, it looks like the foam and metal are separating... might be possible to glue it back together, but will probably need to remove completely to do it properly.

At that point: "Might As Well" just bite the bullet and install a fresh one. The good quality ones aren't all that expensive and will continue to improve the crispness of your interior renovation.

Yeah, looks like the inside of the pad got real crispy and seperated.

Well, they sent me the wrong carpet for the front section, so while I wait on them to reship I got the cargo section finished and installed the rear seat.
