Project Resurrection: The s10 truggy.

so I'd guess m-21.... still a cool car.. I'm not a vette guy myself, but I've restored a few rare ones...

Yeah its an m21. The z28 has an m22 in it though. Talking about a $5000 transmission sitting there...

Im on the same page as you. At the resto shop I did 435hp tri powers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It wasnt something special unless we had like an L88 car or a 63 fuelie or c1 fuelie airbox car come in...

The 63 impala drag car with the aluminum front clip and z11 W block 427 mystery motor was a pretty ****ing awesome piece.

I sold the rockcrusher out of my ex's SS chevelle for $600 back in the 80's... :doah: :haha:

she bought it, AND DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A STICK! :dunno: :haha:

went and picked it up for her, drove it home and put a T350 in it the next day.... :haha:

Well I manned up today lol. Got the body leveled and body mounts on the back all while it was -23* with the wind chill.
Manned up indeed! You wouldn't catch me out in that sh!t. :eek1: Good work though!

Measured and modeled up the front body mount.

Wrapped the vertical pieces to triangulate 1in above the frame for added strength I was worried about. Going to talk to the boss about cutting them out monday. Theyre either going to be 3/16ths or 1/4in. I would rather have 3/16ths but we currently dont have any at work...

From computer to real life.

Probably would have been easier to cut them out at work instead of with a grinder...

Thats an s10 front body mount for a trooper tube frame. Im also going to be selling them as 6bt motor mounts lol.

Fits like a glove. A glove thats like a body mount that I specifically measured carefully and designed on the computer ahead of time :pimp:

I cant wait til we finally thaw out next week. Went from the snow under the truck to a mud bog now :doah: Once the body mounts are done this weekend Im going to start looking at building the bed. I want to get the drivetrain going so I can cut the floor and tuck everything but currently the nv4500 and $$$ adapters arent in the cards right now. Maybe if I get some side work in...

Looking sweet man.

I would plate the body mount. It's sticking out a ways and will get caught on rocks. So plating the bottom. Guess I should check in more often. Didn't think anything would be going on considering the weather

I want to see how my rock sliders pan out first. This truck is going to be flatbellied so Im considering doing UHMW inserts between the tubes tying the sliders to the frame.

I was also doing some research last night and Im pretty sure Im not going with an NV4500. Theyre stupid money, in fact I cant believe how much they still cost. The easiest thing to do would be to just use the toyota trans, but Ive read mixed reviews of it lasting behind a 4.3. I know guys have had them behind v8s, I went to school with a kid who had one, but at the same time Ive never liked to base things off a "well Im not the worst case scenario" kinda thing.

I could get a v6 toyota r150f trans for cheap, like $300. They're abundant and all over the place as they came behind every 3.0 5 speed out there. I would need a $350 bellhousing from AA, and then a $350 adapter to put gear driven transfer cases behind it. I would also NEED to put 23 spline stuff in the transfer cases which isnt a bad thing. Going that route my tran and tcases would basically be bought, adapted and done for the same price as just an nv4500.

Got spiffy trying to learn solid works better. So heres the first draft of my bed. Still some things to fix up. Need to add floor and fillers on the sides and gate etc. Looking for criticism on the tube too. Solid works can be a powerful tool but insanely annoying when you cant get it to do what you want... Watch quite a few tutorials tonight...
