Project Resurrection: The s10 truggy.

So I was going to try to get some body mounts on the truck today. But its -9* w/ the wind chill and blowing 50mph in spurts so **** that.

I did measure the body mount width, vs the frame width, and did the math on my body mount brackets I made. Ironically the body mounts will be drill dead center on the brackets I made for a trooper body 2 years ago lol.

I actually had like 4" or 5"s here, but it all kind of blew away... :dunno: :haha:

sucky part is, later in the week, thurs and such, look stoooooooooopid cold again....

Yep no relief this week. I think Im gonna hide at work and pull another 60-70hr week lol.

that's why I'm in no rush to get materials... I don't mind heating the LAB™ when it's 20 to 30 to a reasonable longjohn temp, less than that get's a bit expensive/ridiculous..

Well I manned up today lol. Got the body leveled and body mounts on the back all while it was -23* with the wind chill. Actually wasnt too bad until the sun started getting away. The trees and garages kinda block the wind in the yard to a point.

Body is squared within a 1/16th of an inch and the whole cab can be moved around about 3/8ths anyway. Plus I got it leveled to the straight section of the frame with 1.5in of clearance from the floor up front and 3in in the back since the floor goes up. Figured this would make slider mounting very easy.

Sits like so.

Im not really sure what to do with the front body mounts. They are insanely far away from the frame from the way I built the taper based of the trooper. I could either basically build a frame rail out and 45* it back in to put a standard body mount on it, then I guess have the option of either leaving or hacking out the original inside piece. Or I could just build a body mount off of sliders like I was originally planning. Kinda of looking for some input on the leverage factor the body would have way out on the sliders hanging on some straight tubes...

:dunno:

tuff guy working out in this sh*t! ;)

I would just do something like this out of some 2 x 4 or 2 x 6, and mount your sliders to it too...

I guess if I made it so the bushing was on a lower piece of steel but the triangulation went over the bushing on the sides it would be stronger...

Im gonna draw something up after dinner :waytogo:

a piece of 3/16 rect 2 x 6 cut at the angle with the bottom plated and the mount sitting on top would be stoopid strong for that..

I was thinking like this. Like a tapering I beam basically. Give me enough space for the bushing over it but still have nice tall sides supporting to the top and bottom of the frame.

if it fit's around the mount metal, great...

Well I would build it so the bushing is around 1/4-3/8 an inch above the side pieces.

I havent actually measured anything for this yet.

Guess its finally time to ask the boss about using teh lazrs at work for myself :D :haha:

Well send the 57 my way then.

Seriously if I could sell them or even give them away to a good home I would. Me and my bud are sick of them sitting there dying in front of us. After the last conundrum of us hauling scrap that was sitting there with rent unpaid for years off to the yard and the owner showing up a week later looking for them I doubt my landlord will ever move on these and Im certainly not inclined to pursue after that mess.
