Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

didn't go after the oil pump today... did the fuel fill, belts, flush, etc.....

it's starting to get cleaner looking up front... douched the front bumper and remounted it... I need a new shroud, the old one is in 2 pieces... gotta go see if LMC has em....

I do not recognize this truck. :eek1:
The bumper looks good, what kind of paint did you use and did you etch the chrome or how did you get the paint to stick and look so smooth satin look.

it was dented and twisted a bit so I spent an absolute minimum of time... DA with 80 to knock the shine down.. denatured alky, couple piss coats of Ryoken green, than a couple coats of Rusto low gloss black.... it'll do for now... the key to it holding up will be the zinc chromate...

the engine compartment has been a cleaning bonanza.. 25 yrs of leaks, road grime, etc on a work vehicle adds up.. scrubbed the front of the motor with degreaser and a tooth brush while i had it all apart today... even with no shroud in it, with the new therm and a flush it seems to run a bit cooler.... the clutch fan needed different hardware so i didn't put that in yet... the rad must have been done at some point not too long ago, as it is very clean looking....

this week I'm gonna see about some tires and have my exhaust guy put some new pipe in it... hi-flow cat and a new muffler... I'll see what he recommends for a muffler.... I may run a Flo 50...

Paul do a Windstar fan conversion. It is so worth it and so much simpler and easier then a new shroud.

I rarely turn both mine on when rock crawling they move some much more air then factory while idling.

I just got some flowmaster 50 series delta truck and suv mufflers on my and they sound real good. Designed for low end torque.

yeah, I run a custom setup in my K5.... I'm just gonna leave it "as is" for now and see how it does without the shroud for a while... which btw, LMC does not offer, so it would have to be OEM used....

This made me LOL...!

"Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Paul.... I dabble in painting from time to time". :D

The fact that he can get such an amazingly uniform finish with a rattle can doesn't surprise me a bit. I don't think I could achieve that result even with the worlds best SATA paint gun. :haha:

what can I replace this with? it looks just like a GM 12SI to me...... I'm assuming the electric connections are where the differences may be..

I'd like to just put 140 amper in there from summit and be done with it........

When I went through this on my 5.3 swap I learned more than I ever wanted to know about altrrnators by googling "gm alternator differences". None of which I can remember but that may help ya.

just ordered 6 KM2's in 255/85/16...... should have them by friday... maybe get em mounted up over the weekend..

just gave myself a quick refresher on 12si vs cs130 vs cs144 and such.... cs144 being the optimum to run... not sure what I'm gonna do yet... the tires left me a bit broke... :haha:

It is a 12SI.
You can run a CS144 with a little bit of moding on the braket and the plug kit for a plug and play.

thanks Ice.....

anyone got any kind of # for the conversion plug?

Those 12SIs come in 90amp with lifetime warentees from local parts stores, thats what I'm running. I've had aftermarket alternators fail prematurely on me before. With one from a local store its a no questions asked swap.
