I know for a fact that the seat does interchange... got the back seat out of a 76 crew cab in the front of my 77... your right just a simple bracket swap.

what's the consensus on sound deadeners? I know VERY little about em.... I'd like the sticky alum backed kinda stuff, that i can apply to the floor, doors, ceiling, etc...
dynamat good stuff? cheaper substitute?

oh, tonight's project....
cut adjusting windows in a pair of chrome valve covers I got off a boat so I can adjust the valves easy peezy... I knew collecting all those BB parts would pay off one day!
and hopefully a new selector valve and all new hoses back at the 2 tanks....

Those are two other ones commonly used in car audio circles.
A lot of the sound deadeners use an asphalt layer to add mass and deaden the panels.... You can get an unpleasant odor from it on hot days (though it disappears over time) and sometimes on vertical surfaces the adhesive can allow the sheets to shift as they get hot.
The higher end deadeners also use a constrained metal layer which makes them even more effective. There are loads of products out there for panel deadening, and also sound absorption of reflected sounds, and of course there are also products for controlling heat from the trans tunnel, etc. I had good luck with ThermoTec mats under my carpet. Lizard Skin makes a ceramic version of their "spray on" bed liner which is supposed to hold out heat AND deaden sound. A talented fella like you would have no trouble dealing with a spray on product so that might be a good way to go also.
The stick on products (Dynamat etc) get expensive in a hurry as you start trying to cover everything with a layer or two... The Lizard Skin is pretty economical by comparison since you get a lot of coverage from their kits. I am fairly sure I will do some sort of ceramic-based spray on liner on my project when the time comes.

I love the stuff.....
Eastwood has a comparable product, I believe... Might be cheaper?

VTBlazer did a build using Lizard Skin. It has me convinced, that's what I'll be going with when I redo my cab. I might even throw in a few of Eastwood's dynomat for extra sound deadening.

As i dont imagine heat is a huge deal in joyse, probably just the sound deadner would be best for you.
I'm interested in this too...although most of the time it will be topless, you can still "feel" noise...I want to damp it...I think I will put insulation in the bedsides behind the covers...
Just to add another spray on option, Al's liner now makes a noise reducer liner product as well, it is not the same as their regular bed liner. I have had great luck with the bed liner that I plan on trying the sound reducer spray when the time comes. Here's a link http://www.alsliner.com/alsHNR.

If you can only have one (and you plan on having carpets) you could just go with the sound deadener. Later on, if you are getting heat soak from the trans tunnel you have the option to hide some ThermoTec pads under the carpet... Or do a ceramic coating on your exhaust to deal with the heat at the source.
For guys that want a rinse-out interior for wheeling....the Dynamat type stuff doesn't seem like a good choice, so the ceramic spray-on product is probably the best way to solve all their problems at once.

for the dog section I'm thinking a snap-in, fitted marine carpet like the boats have, so it can be pulled easily and washed off... like this..
being the front carpet will end behind the front seats, I'm not sure if I should get a carpet set for a CC and cut/bind it, or get a pickup set if it's cheaper...

yeah, you could be right, and the carpet prices may very well be the same between the 2 anyway... I was surprised at much the floor raised up under the front seat, unlike a blazer floor... i wasn't surprised to see it in the back somewhat with the saddle tanks, but the front surprised me a bit...
I've still got striped bass in the freezer from last month..
This is as fresh as it get's, on ice from last night... they got 6 50 lb yellow fin's out at the canyon... not a killer trip, but good enough... just finished some 5 minutes ago, lemon and garlic under the broiler... yum...

Paul, do you get any fresh lobster down there? Got some family in Maine, and have gone out to Deer Isle a few times for it...oh man its good.
And what paint did you use for the underside of the hood...is it a satin or what?

I don't work on too many, just like the occasional dive boat I'll do...
I used to get garbage bags FILLED with lobster tails as tips from a few guys yrs ago.. they where *coughshortscough*.....
I actually ate lobster for 3 weeks straight one time.. never thought I'd say I was sick of eating lobster...
anyway..
that's rusto's engine enamel.. low gloss black.... it dries about 1/2 way between reg flat, and the rusto semi gloss black... it's what's on the front bumper too.. whereas the grill is semi-gloss... I like the low gloss, but it is a buck or so more, being "engine" paint...
truck's a war... just about EVERYTHING on this rig needs attention... made some "windowed" valve covers tonight.. they're needed with 55 lb's at idle, considering I want to do em running on saturday morn....
still battling something of a fuel issue with both tanks, one more than the other... main issue being a loss of pressure when I'm about 1/2 way into the pedal.. drops from about 13.5 to 9.5.... and it's worse in the other tank... it'll only goes to 12, and falls off to 8 when tromped..
it runs around town pretty good now, and definitely draws some looks, but full throttle blasts are out of the question... plus, "dump truck" would be a generous statement....
she's still got a nasty tick in the valvetrain which is annoying, but doesn't affect performance much... at least the rockers are drowning in oil now...
I'm eyeballing a new hydro roller cam and full roller rockers, maybe heads... but that would have to wait a month... just ordered u-bolts and spring plates from Dan at Ruffstuff yesterday, so I can do my back springs next week... should drop the arsend an inch and a 1/2 or so... and about 1/3 the springrate of now..

I only get to eat it once every couple years...the fresh stuff at the coast has the local restaurants lobster blown away in comparison.
