Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

that's the annoying part, getting the rest to that point.. it looked better with the patina thing going on.. but the bodywork had to start at some point...

trying to sneak in a gallon of orange soon.. so I can get stripping, priming and trimming the rest of it...

wow, expensive brake shoes for a dually 70, $80 my cost... :eek1:

this weekends projects...

new hardware kits and shoes out back, pads up front, gallon of fresh brake fluid to flush/fill...

and I'm gonna see about possibly fabbing up some front shock mounts...

Is that with the core charge?
I never pay that much, for shoes.
Hell my big rig shoes ar not that much?:dunno:

Go disc could do a whole set for that. Find a newer 14 bolt going to have disc in them as well as a parking brake.

Kinda surprised you didn't jump on the rear disc brake band wagon. You get a cookie for sticking with your drums :waytogo:

A newer factory rear axle would be rather simple it would seem to me. E-brake cable would be the hardest to do.

My plan if I have to replace the brakes in mine, I even have an axle lined up already.

Well you should go ahead and replace your axle then. Then I can take the stock 70 off your hands.

I would stay with drums too. I wouldn't do a disc brake swap I would do like Keith find a newer axle and swap it under.

Cables are no big deal. Had new ones made for mine from control cables. Less then $100.00 delivered to my door and work great.

yeah, I just glanced at the bill and didn't notice a core... I'm guessing it has a 20 or 25 core charge.. especially these days..

the drums are fine for now..

figures.. for as bad the truck has been maintenance-wise, the back brakes where in great shape, ton of meat on the shoes..... I couldn't even bring myself to replace any parts.. just cleaned up the brake dust and lubed em.... I'll send the brake stuff back and get some u-joints instead...

gonna start working on some front shock towers tomorrow if I've got metal for em...

What's that contraption? Some sort of pressurized fluid pump?

What's the trick to keeping the fluid clean? Any time I do a brake fluid flush no matter how much I run through the system the second I pump the pedal to build up pressure in the system the fluid reseviour is all dark and dirty again.

well, ya gotta make sure you wipe any sludge out of the bottom of the master... the whole system doesn't hold much, just depends on how old and hammered it is too...

ya just gotta love Aircraft Stripper.... sounds like a Rice Krispee factory out there right now... :haha:

don't think I want/need a folding one, due to tube bed... I'll have to ask Kert if he could make up a duplicate of his... I like how his is boxed, and not just a top plate.. it looks like it's 2 pieces that bolt on the bottom, and over thru the frame side... I'd love to see pics of the bottom, installed...

Yes, it can and has been. Mikeyd05 got the second one. Been a couple more since then. Not the biggest demand but from time to time....
