Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

huh.. just was out for a good long bike ride and found a blazer chalet for sale on the other side of town.. :eek1: i'll see about stopping and taking some pics tomorrow...

didn't see a price, but I'm sure he thinks it's gold... if it was stoopid cheap, I might consider it just cuz I have so many parts for square bodies.. but honestly, I always thought they where pretty damn fugly... it's the typical 2 or 3 tone brown thing they came in.. I'd have to do as some in here have and go to an olive green or something...

funny thing is, i wonder how long it's been sitting there without me knowing, it's about a block off a road I travel almost daily.. looks like it hasn't moved in a while...

what where most of those, gas or 6.2's?

Uhh, 1976-77, so all are gassers. Dizzle didn't happen until '80 or '81 for the 350 diesel, and maybe '82 for the 6.2.

Generally they were optioned up and had the 400SBC.

And they are fugly, but it's part of their charm :haha:

yeah, I think they look reasonable when camo'd or whatever, but that 70's vibe thing is NOT working for it in the 21st century... :haha:

I'll check it out more thoroughly after work tomorrow... I'm guessing it's a rust bucket, but ya never know...

actually, it would probably make a decent vehicle for a dog to cruise around in I'm guessing...

While I have absolutely no need for one, if I ever found a decent condition Chalet for cheap........I would own one :doah: :D

and yes, OD green looks :pimp: on those, along with some surplus 37's, H1 wheels, tons .........maybe I wouldn't buy one, it's starting to sound expensive :haha:

yeah, i honestly really have no purpose in having it.. tho i'm sure it would make a good campibng rig.. but if it's a good deal and under a grand, i might consider it...

If I found one that was decent and had the coin at the time I would get one purely for the hunting camping aspect! And I completely agree with the olive drab green color, that makes them look the best! Plus I might as well add another rig to the collection!

alrighty...

stopped out and picked up the initial steel for the tubebed at my welder bud's place...

first, here's his 38... pretty cool car, wont see too many 38's around... that's a 25 g candy apple paintjob there.... :eek1:

Meh...25 G's...I'll be there before long on my paint job...he's got nuthin' on me :haha:

And in a weird way, I like the chalet...reminds me of an on Tonka set...maybe it was GI Joe or the Six Million Dollar Man...anyway, some character had a toy set with a chalet looking truck...

Id rock me a Chalet. I think they are pretty cool. Fugly yes, but who cares, itd rock to go camping in and do some light wheeling at the dunes

yeah, if the price is right, I may do it, we'll see... I can certainly spend the money on tube and materials for my flatbed, so the price/deal would have to be right for me to take the "delay" on Mutt's tubebed.....

nah, I didn't even stop in yet cuz I'm broke getting ready for Mutt's lift...... did drive by slowly, and it's definitely got some rot, lower fenders, doors, rockers, etc..

should be a nice ORD delivery for me tomorrow.. :woot:

Wonder if he just wants someone to haul it away?

doubtful, I'm sure he thinks it's gold.. we'll see... I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon...

but I'd like to have 500 on me when i stop in.. if it's even worth that to me... even if the truck is not worth redoing, a couple hundy for a solid chalet top would be cool to have for the right rig down the road..

the last of the parts came for the x-over/lift gig... weld-in, kp kits, brake hose, 0-rates, cheap shocks/stabilizer till i build towers... cleaned and painted the heep shaft I have too.....

start that project next weekend...
