Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Ryoken's question of the day....

how whacked are ya when ya take a brand new grill and sand and paint it?

That's funny! I've done that. Crew cab grill got the same treatment. Out of the box brand new and sand it/paint it.

So, i'd have to answer, not whacked at all.

if they make them, I think amber lenses would look good on there...

kinda like when I take a circular saw to a new boat! :haha:

thanks for the perches... I'll have to work thru my dyslexia and figure out how the offset holes could help me move the axle forward.. one of those, need all the parts in front of you kinda things... :doah:

Your welcome.

Helps me to think of it as moving the truck rather than moving the axle.

so........

as the last week went by, I liked the grill more and more, yet at the same time, something wasn't right... :dunno:

so after what I can only quantify as some bizarre dyslexic anomaly, I swapped the main grill colors... :doah: :haha:

I'm very, very pleased, think it looks pretty sick now... and the way it should have looked in the first place... :saweet:

oh, new side markers for the fenders too.....

Amazing....now everything looks right...and the clear turn signal lenses look right...amazing how that color swap just pulled it all together....

"That rug really tied the room together".

Surprise !

Wow!
I thought it looked fine before, until you put them up together.
2nd version is more fitting, I like it even more!!

thanks... the new one "flows" so much better... me likey mucho... :pimp: I also got some color on the filler panel too..

on to other matters, next Mutt purchase, tube order... :woot: wont be till jan 16 tho...

next labor, flip the flips, shorten the frame another 6" or so and new rear x-member/winch mount...

having the before and after shots right next to each other really pointed it out. yeah, the 2nd is much better.

and this is a case where pics don't do it justice, it REALLY looks good in person imo.. it's sorta subtle, yet it "pops"...

that's more the angry mallards's job... :haha: it's certianly an attention getter... :eek1: :doah: :pimp:

I'm sooo revved to start bending tube for it... :deal: :grind: :weld: :saweet:

oh, and Chief, while I had it back apart, I did a 5 minute polish on the turn lenses with a bit of compound on a rag... they definitely look a lot better.. maybe i'll wheel em at some point..

I do need to take it back apart at some point and change out a few of the clips/hardware, maybe than.. or maybe I'll pop for the $65.
